A Realtek Bluetooth driver lets Windows communicate with a supported Realtek Bluetooth radio, but there is no universal package that suits every PC. First identify the computer model, Bluetooth adapter, and Windows version; then use Windows Update or the computer maker’s official support page. Download directly from Realtek only when the listed chip family and operating system match your hardware.
What a Realtek Bluetooth driver does
A driver is the software Windows uses to communicate with hardware. A Realtek Bluetooth driver supports a Bluetooth radio built into a PC or other device; it is not itself a Bluetooth adapter.

Some Realtek chips combine Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Realtek describes families such as RTL8723BE, RTL8821AE, RTL8822BE, RTL8821CE, and RTL8723DE as WLAN/Bluetooth combo solutions that require both WLAN and Bluetooth drivers. The two functions may have separate downloads, so installing a Wi-Fi package alone may not provide the Bluetooth driver. Realtek’s RTL8821AE software page explains the combo families and lists separate driver details.

Note your PC manufacturer, exact model or service identifier, and Windows version. The PC maker’s support page is usually the best place to find a package intended for that specific system.

Open Device Manager and expand Bluetooth. Record the adapter name. If that category is missing, check Other devices for an unidentified device and consult the PC specifications. Some computers do not include Bluetooth hardware. Microsoft’s Bluetooth troubleshooting guide covers checking for Bluetooth capability and device issues.

Use the adapter name and PC model to find the matching driver. Do not choose a download just because its title includes “Realtek”: chip family, operating-system support, and the PC maker’s implementation all matter.
Choose a driver source that matches the PC

Microsoft recommends using the PC manufacturer’s site if Windows cannot find a driver. Avoid third-party driver-download sites; a package with a familiar chip name is not proof that it is appropriate for your system.
Install the matching driver

Download the Bluetooth driver for your exact PC model from the manufacturer’s official support page, or use a Realtek package only if its chip family and Windows listing match your hardware.

Run the installer and follow its instructions. Restart if prompted.

If the download is a manual driver package rather than an installer, open Device Manager, right-click the Bluetooth adapter, choose Update driver, then select Browse my computer for drivers and point Windows to the folder containing the package. Do not force an incompatible package onto the adapter.

Check Device Manager and Bluetooth settings again. If the adapter is still missing or has an error, continue with the symptom-specific checks below.

Why Realtek package names and dates matter
Realtek organizes downloads by product family, not as one generic Bluetooth driver. The details on its pages illustrate why the exact chip and interface matter; these older listings are examples, not recommendations for a particular PC or claims about the latest available driver.

Realtek’s RTL8821AE page describes WLAN/Bluetooth combo families and lists a Bluetooth USB driver install package for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. The displayed version is 1.4.887.3011, dated April 19, 2017; the page shows an update date of August 22, 2018. “Bluetooth USB Driver” is the package description for the Bluetooth interface, not proof that it is a driver for a retail USB dongle. Realtek’s RTL8723BS page covers the RTL8723BS/RTL8723DS WLAN/Bluetooth combo family. Its displayed Windows 10 entries include a WLAN SDIO driver, version 3008.54.0414.2017, and a Bluetooth UART driver, version 1.0.245.3, dated May 8, 2017. The page date shown is August 3, 2018. See the RTL8723BS software page.
Those entries show that a package can be specific to an operating system, chip family, and interface. They do not establish which driver a given laptop needs today. Check the PC manufacturer’s current support page for your exact model.

The Bluetooth toggle or icon is missing

Verify that the PC includes Bluetooth hardware, then check Device Manager under Bluetooth and Other devices.

- What Can I do if the Bluetooth adapter can not work?: Ensure there are no other Bluetooth devices installed on the computer. If there are, disable all existing Bluetooth devices in "Device Manager", then insert the adapter and try again. (For detailed information please read the user manual)

Check whether Bluetooth is turned off or Airplane mode is enabled. If the adapter appears, try updating its driver through Windows or the PC maker.

If Windows does not detect the radio, the cause may be hardware or configuration rather than a missing Realtek download. Microsoft notes that a missing Bluetooth toggle can occur with a Bluetooth hardware error. See its Bluetooth troubleshooting steps.
A device is not discovered or will not pair

Make sure the accessory is powered on, charged, in pairing mode, and within range.

Toggle Bluetooth off and on. If the accessory appears in Windows but will not connect, remove it from the paired-device list and try pairing again.

The problem began after a Windows update or upgrade
Check Windows Update and Device Manager for a compatible driver, then look up the exact PC model on the manufacturer’s support page. A driver that worked with an earlier Windows version may not work correctly with the current one.
The driver reinstalls, but Bluetooth still fails
Reconfirm the computer model and adapter identity, then use the PC maker’s specific support guidance. Microsoft also recommends the Bluetooth troubleshooter and, in some cases, uninstalling the adapter in Device Manager so Windows can reinstall it. A generic Realtek package may not address a configuration, service, accessory, or hardware problem.
When a USB Bluetooth adapter makes sense
If the PC has no Bluetooth capability, or its internal radio cannot be used, a USB Bluetooth adapter may provide a way to add Bluetooth. Check that the adapter supports your Windows version and PC. It is separate hardware, not a Realtek driver, and plugging one in does not automatically fix a mismatched driver on an otherwise working internal radio.
