The TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G lists the higher maximum refresh rate, 144Hz against 120Hz. These are spec-sheet figures from realme’s Singapore GT 7 specifications page and TECNO’s official POVA 8 Pro 5G specifications page, not results from hands-on, benchmark or battery testing. Neither page gives a price, so no price difference can be stated from them alone. The pages also do not show a publication date, so check the figures against the exact regional model you plan to buy.

Processor: a higher tier on paper
The GT 7’s Dimensity 9400e is the higher-tier chip on the listed figures, with a higher clock ceiling (3.4GHz against 2.6GHz). Both chips are 4nm octa-core designs according to their makers. A chipset tier is a reasonable starting point for expected performance, but it does not show frame rates in particular games, thermal throttling or sustained performance over a long session. Those need independent testing, which these two pages do not provide.

Display: refresh rate versus brightness
Both phones list a 6.78-inch panel. The POVA 8 Pro’s maximum refresh rate of 144Hz is the higher number on either sheet. Whether a phone actually runs at that rate depends on the content, the app and the refresh-rate setting, so the spec figure is a ceiling rather than a guarantee.
#1 Best Overall
- 6.78 inches, LTPO AMOLED, 1B colors, 1264 x 2780 pixels
- 512GB Storage, 16GB RAM
- Android 15, Mediatek Dimensity 9400e (4 nm), Octa-core (1x3.4 GHz Cortex-X4 & 3x2.85 GHz Cortex-X4 & 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A720)
- Real Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/1.56, 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS, 50 MP, f/2.0, (telephoto), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, PDAF, 2x optical zoom, 8 MP, f/2.2, 16mm, 112˚ (ultrawide), 1/4.0", 1.12µm, Front: 32 MP, f/2.5, 21mm (wide), 1/2.74", 0.8µm
- 162.4 x 76.1 x 8.3 mm (6.39 x 3.00 x 0.33 in)
The brightness figures are not comparable. realme lists a peak of up to 6000 nits, while TECNO separates a 700-nit typical level, a 1600-nit high-brightness mode and a 4500-nit peak. Each maker measures and labels these differently, so the two numbers should not be ranked against each other.
Battery and charging
The GT 7 lists a 7000mAh typical capacity, with a 6850mAh minimum, and 120W Ultra Charge. The POVA 8 Pro lists 6500mAh and 45W Super Charge. Capacity and charging speed are the two battery figures that can be compared directly, and the GT 7 leads on both.

- 162.4 x 76.1 x 8.3 mm (6.39 x 3.00 x 0.33 in)
Neither figure is a measured endurance result. Screen-on time, network conditions and usage patterns determine real battery life, and no comparable test is cited on either manufacturer’s page.
Cameras
On paper, the GT 7 has more rear lenses: a 50MP Sony IMX906 main, a 50MP 2x camera and an 8MP wide-angle. Its front camera is a 32MP Sony IMX615. The POVA 8 Pro has a 50MP OIS main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide, with a 13MP front camera. TECNO’s page also lists an “Alive Matrix Display” feature; the specification figures do not explain what it does, so it is not compared here.

- 161.8 x 76.9 x 8.2 mm (6.37 x 3.03 x 0.32 in)
Lens count and sensor resolution do not establish image quality. Colour, low-light performance and processing differ by tuning and software, and no side-by-side photo testing is cited for either model.
Memory: physical RAM and extended RAM
The two RAM headlines are not the same kind of number, and this is where comparisons most often go wrong.

- Android 15, Qualcomm SM8750-AB Snapdragon 8 Elite (3 nm), Octa-core (2x4.32 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix L + 6x3.53 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix M)
- realme GT 7: the Singapore page lists 12GB RAM with 512GB ROM and describes dynamic RAM up to 12GB. The 12GB figure is the one to compare with physical memory in other phones.
- TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G: the headline “24GB RAM” includes 12GB of extended RAM, which is memory borrowed from storage. The 256GB option lists 16GB including 8GB extended RAM, which implies 8GB of physical RAM on that configuration, based on TECNO’s own breakdown.
When comparing the two, use the physical figure for each. The 24GB and 16GB headlines overstate the physical memory the phone has.
Weight
realme lists the GT 7 at approximately 206g, citing its lab data. TECNO lists the POVA 8 Pro 5G at 189g. Weight is a listed figure only, so it does not show how either phone feels in the hand.
The price difference: what can and cannot be stated
The official specification pages establish specifications, not street prices. A price difference becomes meaningful only when the market, date, seller and storage configuration are fixed for both phones. To check it:
Quick Recap
- Choose one country and its currency. Prices differ by market, and the GT 7 page cited here is realme’s Singapore page.
- Match the storage configuration. The GT 7 figures above are for 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM. The POVA 8 Pro is offered with 256GB or 512GB ROM, so compare 512GB against 512GB or 256GB against 256GB.
- Confirm the model is the regional version that matches the spec sheet you are comparing.
- Record the seller, the date you checked and whether the price includes tax, shipping and the bundled charger.
- Compare only matched variants from the same date. Any price gap recorded without these details should not be treated as a reliable difference.
Which phone fits which buyer
Based on the published specifications alone:
- Buyers who prioritise a higher chipset tier, a larger battery and faster charging should look at the realme GT 7.
- Buyers who prioritise the highest listed refresh rate, 144Hz, should look at the TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G.
- Camera quality, gaming stability, real-world battery life and value for money are not established by these specifications. Check independent reviews and matched-price listings before deciding on those points.
