That choice changes the controls—and the total number of programmable buttons—so the mouse is most compelling if you want one device to serve different games or uses, not simply because it advertises a high button count.
What changes when you swap the side plates?
Each plate changes the thumb-side controls. Razer positions the 12-button plate for MMO play, the 6-button plate for MOBA and battle royale games, and the 2-button plate for FPS games or everyday use. These are intended uses, not rules: choose the layout that suits the actions you want close at hand.

How to swap a plate
Gently pull off the current magnetic side plate, then snap the 12-, 6-, or 2-button plate into place. The plates attach magnetically, so switching the physical layout does not require tools. Configure the mouse’s controls and scroll-wheel modes in Razer Synapse.

Who is the Naga V3 Pro for?
Consider it if you want a right-handed mouse with many programmable controls for MMO actions, but also value the option to reduce thumb-side buttons for other games or general computer use. The 12-button plate puts more commands within thumb reach; that can be useful when your games have many actions, but it is not automatically an advantage if you prefer a simpler layout.
The three plates make the Naga V3 Pro a multi-genre option on paper. Razer’s published specifications establish its features, but they do not establish how comfortable or effective the layouts will feel to an individual player; fit and preference depend on the user.

Connectivity, battery claims, and charging
The mouse supports Razer HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth, and wired use with the included USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable. Battery-life figures differ between two official Razer sources, and neither is an independent measurement:

How to decide
- Choose the 12-button plate if MMO actions are the main reason you want the mouse and you want extensive thumb controls.
- Choose the 6-button plate if you want fewer side controls for games such as MOBAs or battle royale titles.
- Choose the 2-button plate if you prefer a more restrained side layout for FPS games or everyday use.
- Factor in the optional charging accessories only if dock-based wireless charging matters to you; the mouse also supports wired use.
The useful distinction is not simply “more buttons versus fewer.” It is whether the included layout options match the games and control density you actually want. Razer’s published specs and intended uses are available on its product page and support page.
