Independent testing found it strong for gaming, but its substantial size, short battery estimates with lighting on, and a specific concern about the tested Green switches may matter more than its headline RGB-off battery figure. It suits people who want a number pad and dedicated controls; buyers prioritizing quiet typing, compactness, or long illuminated use should weigh those trade-offs carefully.
What are the BlackWidow V3 Pro’s main advantages?
- Three connection modes: Razer specifies 2.4 GHz HyperSpeed wireless, Bluetooth, and wired USB-C connectivity. Bluetooth can connect to up to three devices, according to Razer’s product page.
- Gaming performance: RTINGS’ review reports exceptionally low latency, low pre-travel, full RGB lighting, macro-programmable keys, and good build quality. Its testing supports the keyboard as a strong gaming option, though it does not establish identical performance in every connection mode or setup. RTINGS’ review was published October 14, 2020, with its test bench updated November 29, 2023.
- Useful full-size controls: The layout includes a number pad, four media buttons, and a multifunction dial for convenient media and volume adjustments.
- Included wrist rest: RTINGS noted the detachable plush wrist rest as a positive comfort feature.
- Lighting and customization: Razer lists individually lit keys, Chroma RGB, programmable keys, and five onboard profiles.
What are the main drawbacks?
Large footprint and weight
This is a full-size board, not a space-saving option. Razer lists dimensions of 450.70 × 248.40 × 42.30 mm and a weight of 1,423 g. RTINGS says it is too large to travel with. The number pad and dedicated controls are useful, but they take up desk space.

Battery life changes sharply with backlighting
Razer’s stated “up to 200 hours” applies with backlighting off. Its support specifications, updated July 31, 2026, estimate up to about 14 hours with white backlighting at 50% brightness, or about 6 hours at 100%. These are manufacturer estimates under stated lighting conditions, not independent battery-test results. If you plan to keep RGB on, judge the keyboard by the relevant lighting estimate rather than the maximum.

Razer offers Green mechanical switches and Yellow mechanical switches. RTINGS tested the Green version and found its switches inconsistent in sound and feel. That finding applies to the Green sample it reviewed; it should not be treated as a test of the Yellow variant. Green is the clicky option, while Yellow is the linear alternative listed by Razer. If noise or key feel is a deciding factor, try the exact switch variant before buying when possible.

ABS keycaps and missing features
Razer specifies doubleshot ABS keycaps, not PBT. The board also lacks USB pass-through and 1000 Hz ultrapolling according to Razer’s support specifications. If either feature is essential, compare other keyboards. Razer lists the switches’ lifespan as 80 million clicks; that is a manufacturer rating, not independently verified durability testing.
Software and a historical low-battery report
RTINGS says the companion software is limited to Windows, so check current software support if you plan to configure macros or lighting from another operating system. Separately, Tom’s Hardware reported in its September 28, 2020 review that low battery coincided with dim, erratic RGB and 1–2 second delays in key registration. This is one reviewer’s historical experience, not proof of a universal defect or of current firmware behavior. Tom’s Hardware’s review describes that observation.

Which switch and connection should you choose?
Choose by switch preference, not by the review alone
The model is RZ03-03530 and is sold with Green or Yellow mechanical switches. Green is clicky; Yellow is linear. The independent concern about inconsistent sound and feel was specific to RTINGS’ Green-switch test. The available evidence here does not establish that the two variants feel or sound equivalent, so do not assume the Green review applies to Yellow.
Match the connection to the device
- 2.4 GHz HyperSpeed: Razer positions this wireless mode for gaming. Actual performance depends on the setup; the testing cited above does not promise identical results in every configuration.
- Bluetooth: A practical choice for switching among compatible devices; Razer says it supports up to three connected devices.
- USB-C wired: Use the detachable cable for a wired connection. Razer lists the included braided fiber cable as 2 m long.
Is the BlackWidow V3 Pro worth buying now?
It can make sense if you specifically want full-size controls, wireless flexibility, RGB, and a wrist rest, and you have enough desk space. It is a less natural fit if your priorities are a compact board, quiet typing, long battery life with bright lighting, USB pass-through, or 1000 Hz ultrapolling.

Age and price also matter. RTINGS says the V3 Pro has been replaced by the BlackWidow V4 Pro, so it should not be described as Razer’s newest model. Current prices and stock were not verified here; compare the actual offer and features with current alternatives rather than assuming the V3 Pro is good value at any price. For product identity and current specifications, Razer’s BlackWidow V3 Pro support page identifies model RZ03-03530 and was updated July 31, 2026. Razer described it at launch in September 2020 as its first wireless mechanical gaming keyboard in a launch announcement.
