But its premium price is easiest to justify if you value ANC, and the right platform version matters—especially for Xbox. Comfort and sound also vary with fit, so it is not a universal match.
What makes the BlackShark V3 Pro appealing?
Razer announced the BlackShark V3 Pro lineup on July 29, 2025, with separate PC, PlayStation and Xbox variants. Its headline combination is competitive-gaming features plus hybrid ANC, a feature new to the BlackShark line. Razer specifies HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2 latency as low as 10 ms. That is a manufacturer figure, not independent proof that it beats every competing headset.

The headset also has 50 mm Gen-2 TriForce Bio-Cellulose drivers and a detachable 12 mm HyperClear Full Band microphone. Razer specifies a 48 kHz microphone sampling rate and says the redesigned driver plug reduces harmonic distortion by 50%, while the drivers deliver a 75% increase in magnetic field strength. Those are Razer’s specifications and claims, rather than independently established comparative results. On PC, Razer says supported content can use 7.1.4-channel THX Spatial Audio.
The appeal is not only on paper. RTINGS found the boom mic very good, with natural-sounding voice reproduction and strong separation from surrounding noise. It also rated the headset good for wireless and wired gaming, citing low latency, customizable V-shaped sound, decent ANC and long battery life. In Razer’s launch announcement, professional Counter-Strike player and Team Razer member Nikola “NiKo” Kovač said that early prototypes helped him pick out reloads, footsteps and position shifts more easily. That is an athlete endorsement from someone involved in product feedback, not independent testing.

Is ANC worth paying extra for?
ANC is the clearest reason to consider the V3 Pro over the previous BlackShark V2 Pro. TechRadar listed the V3 Pro at $249.99, £249.99 or around AU$510 at launch and described it as $50 more than the V2 Pro at that time. These are launch-era figures, not current prices; retailer pricing and discounts can change.
Whether that premium makes sense depends on where and how you play. RTINGS describes the hybrid ANC as decent and useful against household noise, but less effective than the best travel headphones, particularly against engine rumble. If you mostly play in a quiet room, ANC may not be worth paying extra for. If you share a noisy space and want some relief from surrounding sound, it can be a useful addition—just do not expect travel-headphone-level isolation.

Which version works with your console?
Choose the version for the platform you actually use. RTINGS states that the PC and PlayStation variants do not work with Xbox, so Xbox players should select the Xbox model. The lineup is not fully interchangeable across platforms; check the exact version on the product listing before buying rather than relying on the shared BlackShark V3 Pro name.

Fit is a more personal question. RTINGS warns that glasses, long hair and a larger head can change the bass response, creating inconsistent sound between wearers. Its positive assessment of the customizable V-shaped sound therefore should not be read as a guarantee that every person will hear the same balance or find the same fit comfortable. If possible, buy from a retailer with a practical return policy and try the headset with your usual glasses or hairstyle.

The choice is less about a single winner than which trade-offs matter most. RTINGS identifies the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, Audeze Maxwell and Logitech G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED as relevant high-end comparisons. Its review notes that the Razer brings ANC and low latency, while alternatives can offer sturdier construction, stronger ANC, better microphone handling or more consistent sound, depending on the model. There is no market-wide benchmark in the reviewed evidence that establishes one headset as best for everyone.

Against the BlackShark V2 Pro, the practical question is whether the V3 Pro’s ANC and updated feature set justify the launch-era $50 premium TechRadar reported. Since current prices can differ, compare the live prices of the correct platform versions before deciding; a large discount on the older model can change the value calculation.
