RayNeo GT Max Compatibility: Phones, Laptops, Consoles and Handhelds

RayNeo GT Max connects directly to USB-C devices with DisplayPort video. HDMI devices need RayNeo’s adapter, while Lightning iPhones and iPads need Apple’s AV adapter too.

RayNeo GT Max works as an external display when its connected device can send it video. For a direct USB-C connection, the exact port must support DisplayPort video over USB-C (DP Alt Mode) or compatible Thunderbolt video output; a USB-C socket used only for charging or data is not enough. HDMI devices need RayNeo’s HDMI adapter, and Lightning iPhones or iPads need Apple’s Lightning Digital AV Adapter as well.

How to tell whether a device is compatible

GT Max receives a video signal from a phone, computer, or gaming device; it does not run that device’s apps on its own. RayNeo says a direct USB-C connection requires DisplayPort over USB-C, also called DP Alt Mode, or compatible Thunderbolt video output. Its support guide cautions that “A USB-C connector does not always support video output.” Check the specifications for the exact device and port for terms such as “DP Alt Mode,” “DisplayPort over USB-C,” or Thunderbolt video support. RayNeo also notes that compatibility can vary by regional device variant and software updates. RayNeo’s GT and GT Max compatibility article and its GT Series support guide provide the connection guidance.

Which phones, computers and gaming devices work?

RayNeo’s compatibility list is partial: named devices are examples, not a guarantee covering every model or regional variant. Use the table to identify the likely connection route, then confirm video output for the exact model.

USB-C with DisplayPort video

  1. Confirm the source’s exact USB-C port supports DisplayPort video, DP Alt Mode, or compatible Thunderbolt video output.
  2. Connect the source to GT Max with the included USB-C cable.

No adapter is needed for this direct route. RayNeo’s support guide explains the USB-C video requirement.

Does basic display use require the RayNeo XR app?

No. RayNeo says ordinary mirroring or extended-display use does not require the XR app. The app adds features such as SBS 3D playback and AI 2D-to-3D conversion; their availability can depend on the connected device, operating system, app version and glasses firmware. RayNeo’s support documentation distinguishes basic display use from app features.

What to check before connecting

  • Identify the output type: USB-C with video, HDMI, or Lightning.
  • For USB-C, confirm video output on the exact port; connector shape and charging support are not enough.
  • For HDMI, include RayNeo’s HDMI adapter in the connection plan; for Lightning, include Apple’s AV adapter as well.
  • If the model is not named by RayNeo, or has regional variants, verify its port specifications and compatibility with RayNeo rather than assuming support.
  • If the picture is black or the glasses report no signal, first recheck the output capability and each adapter connection. RayNeo lists black-screen and no-signal issues in its GT Max product support information.
