Longines has the longer documented history, while Raymond Weil is a younger, family-owned independent brand; neither fact alone tells you which watch is the better buy. Official US listings show meaningful price overlap: Raymond Weil’s Toccata Heritage examples start at $1,195, and its Millesime Small Seconds is listed at $2,425; Longines lists the Flagship Heritage at $2,150 and Flagship Heritage Moonphase models at $3,450. These are different watches, not a like-for-like value test, so compare the particular models you would actually wear.

Which brand has the longer heritage?
Longines has the older history by a substantial margin: Swatch Group dates its founding to 1832 in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, and says it is the oldest registered trademark still bearing its original winged-hourglass emblem. The corporate profile also points to Longines’ history in precision watchmaking and sports timing. Those details establish institutional history, not a guarantee that a particular Longines watch is better made or more suitable for you.
Raymond Weil was founded in 1976 by Raymond Weil. The company says it remains an independent, family-owned watchmaker and is now led by founder’s grandson Elie Bernheim. Its own account connects the brand’s identity with Swiss watchmaking, independence, creativity, music, and the arts. The company has also published Bernheim’s statement: “At RAYMOND WEIL, we preserve a family legacy built on independence, craftsmanship, and a deep connection to the Arts.”

How do their prices compare?
The cited official listings overlap, rather than dividing neatly into a lower-priced Raymond Weil and a higher-priced Longines. On Raymond Weil’s US site, accessed in 2026, Toccata Heritage 28 mm variants were listed at $1,195, $1,275, $1,650, $1,875, $2,350, $2,425, and $2,550; the 39 mm Millesime Small Seconds with tuxedo dial was listed at $2,425. Longines’ US site listed the 38.50 mm automatic stainless-steel Flagship Heritage at $2,150 and Flagship Heritage Moonphase variants at $3,450.
These examples differ in size and complication: the Longines moonphase adds a display that the cited Raymond Weil models do not share. Use the current price in your own market and compare the exact configurations, rather than treating these listings as a ranking of brand value. Taxes, availability, retailer discounts, and future price changes may also affect what you pay.

What do the collections look and feel like?
Raymond Weil: varied cues across its collections
Raymond Weil’s examples span distinct styles. The Toccata Heritage was created for the brand’s 50th anniversary and reinterprets classic ladies’ watchmaking with a curved round case, jewelry-inspired details, and proportions intended to evoke the 1950s through 1970s. The Millesime Small Seconds uses a 39 mm tuxedo dial, while A.R.T. is described by the company as its first integrated-bracelet watch, with an architectural case, polished bevels, and contrasting finishes.
Longines: the Flagship Heritage story
Longines describes Flagship as an emblematic line dating to the late 1950s, with an emphasis on elegance and simplicity. A notable detail is the hand-painted enamel caravel on an 18-carat gold medallion set into the screw-down caseback. The brand also says its automatic watches use movements with silicon balance-springs, whose properties improve resistance to ordinary temperature variation and magnetic fields. That statement is not a comparative accuracy test against Raymond Weil.

How to choose between two specific watches
Start with the models, not the logos. A dress-oriented Raymond Weil and a Longines moonphase, for example, answer different needs. Before deciding, line up the official specifications and current local prices for the exact pair:
- Use and style: Decide whether you want a dress, everyday, sport, vintage-informed, or integrated-bracelet look.
- Movement and complication: Check whether each watch is quartz or automatic and whether it displays only the time or adds features such as a moonphase or chronograph.
- Fit: Compare diameter, thickness, lug-to-lug length where published, and bracelet or strap dimensions. Diameter alone does not establish how a watch will sit on your wrist.
- Materials and practical specifications: Check case and crystal materials, water resistance, clasp, and any model-specific magnetic or shock-resistance claims.
- Ownership: Verify warranty terms, service access and cost, and whether a seller is currently authorized.
- Price basis: Keep geography and condition consistent: compare local list prices with list prices, or new with new and pre-owned with pre-owned. Account for taxes and availability.
The official collection pages cited here do not provide a complete matched specification comparison. They also do not establish that one brand is categorically more accurate, durable, finely finished, easier to service, or likely to retain more resale value. Those questions require evidence about the particular models and, for ownership costs or resale, the relevant market.

Do not treat an unusual anniversary model as representative
Raymond Weil’s 50th-anniversary page separately lists The Fifty, a 37 mm limited-edition chronograph, at €9,990 and marked sold out when accessed. The page describes a hand-wound historic Valjoux Calibre 23-6 with a 48-hour power reserve. It is an unusual anniversary piece, not a useful proxy for either brand’s everyday selection, and its euro listing should not be compared directly with the US prices above.
