Ragnarok X: Next Generation Element Guide: How to Check Matchups

Check a monster’s element, read the current ROX-specific chart, and confirm your attack actually applies the element before changing your build.

Before changing your weapon element or build in Ragnarok X: Next Generation (ROX), confirm the target monster’s element and check the current ROX-specific Attribute System chart. The exact matchup multipliers are not available in the text version of the official chart, so don’t rely on numbers from another Ragnarok game. Verify the chart in the official page image or your live client, and note your server region and client version.

How to use elements when choosing an attack

  1. Identify the target’s element. Use the information shown for that monster in your current ROX client.
  2. Check the current ROX Attribute System chart. The official article is dated January 22, 2026, but its chart is image-based and the matchup values are not available in the page’s searchable text. Inspect the chart image or the in-game chart before using a numerical matchup: ROX Attribute System.
  3. Read the chart’s orientation and labels. Confirm whether its rows identify the target element and its columns the attack element, or vice versa. Do not assume the layout. If it gives percentages, treat them as damage multipliers only as labeled by that chart.
  4. Confirm the attack actually uses the element you intend. A weapon’s element may matter to an effect, but that does not establish that every skill or damage event uses it in the same way.
  5. Check the client and region. Record the server region and version alongside any values you copy; recheck the live chart when updates may have changed combat behavior.

What is confirmed about weapon element

A 2026 official maintenance notice says developers fixed Kraken Card’s Ambush effect so it dealt damage using the weapon’s element rather than Neutral damage. This is a specific example of weapon element affecting an attack effect; it does not confirm identical behavior for every class, skill, card, or damage event. See the official July 2026 update notice.

Why this guide does not list matchup percentages

The official ROX Attribute System article is dated January 22, 2026, but its chart is an image whose values are not exposed in the available text. No ROX damage multiplier can therefore be stated here with confidence. Do not fill that gap with a chart from Ragnarok Online or another title: the official Ragnarok Online manual describes that game’s own attribute system, not ROX’s.

Combat rules can also change with client updates. The July 2026 ROX notice says, “All final effects of the above adjustments are subject to the actual in-game version.” Treat the live client for your region as the final check when a copied chart or old guide may be out of date.

How to compare two element options

When choosing between attack elements, compare the same four things for each option:

  • The target’s confirmed element in your client.
  • The current ROX chart’s multiplier for that target and attack element, read using the chart’s own row and column labels.
  • Whether the weapon, skill, or card effect in question actually applies that element to the damage being compared.
  • Your server region and client version, since updates can affect final behavior.

A community ROX damage calculator includes elemental counter and element-enhancement factors in its damage model. It can help explore a scenario, but it is not an official formula specification, and its compatibility with every region and build is not established. Use the ROX chart and live client as your authority for combat rules.
