If Quordle won’t load, shows a blank screen, ignores your keyboard, or seems to have lost an unfinished game, start with low-risk checks: confirm the site address, reload, and tap or click inside the board. Avoid clearing cookies or site data until you have checked where that version of Quordle keeps progress. Several sites use the Quordle name, and fixes or saved-game behavior for one site may not apply to another.
First, confirm which Quordle site is failing
Check the address bar and note the exact URL. Quordle-branded sites may be independent; a troubleshooting guide or saved-progress explanation for one is not a guarantee about another. The advice below distinguishes the Quordle.game FAQ from the independent quordle.uk guide where their guidance is site-specific.
Describe the symptom precisely before changing settings: a blank or loading page, a physical keyboard that does nothing, a board that does not fit the screen, a guess that is rejected, an unfinished game that appears to have restarted, or a sharing problem. A rejected guess is not the same as a dead Enter key: if the game responds but rejects a word, that site may not accept the word in its list; if nothing happens, investigate input or loading instead.
Try the safe, quick fixes first
- Reload the page once. If the game is embedded or still loading, give it a short while before deciding it is stuck.
- Give the board focus. Click or tap inside the game area, then try typing again. The Quordle.game FAQ recommends: “Click inside the game area once to make sure it has focus.” On a phone, try the game’s on-screen keyboard.
- Check the layout. Reset browser zoom if the board is cut off; on a tablet, rotating the screen may help.
- Reduce browser strain. Close a few extra tabs or restart the browser if pages are sluggish.
Quordle won’t load or shows a blank screen
A blank page can have several causes, including blocked JavaScript or other scripts, stale cached data, or a slow connection. Those are possibilities, not proof that the game itself is down. Google’s general Chrome troubleshooting guidance also points to JavaScript, extensions, browser data, browser updates, and network connection as things to check. Its support article notes: “Some video or game issues are caused by Chrome extensions, plug-ins, or something saved in your cache or browser data.”

- Check the connection. Try another page, then reload Quordle. If practical, compare the game on the same device using a different network.
- Check JavaScript and blockers. Make sure JavaScript is available. Temporarily test whether an extension, ad blocker, or content blocker is preventing scripts from running; restore your usual settings after the test.
- Compare browsers. Open the same game in another browser on the same device. If it works there, investigate the original browser’s settings, extensions, or stored data.
- Use a private window only as a test. It can help identify browser-profile or extension issues, but private browsing may not retain local game progress.

The keyboard isn’t responding
First distinguish a keyboard problem from a word-list rejection. If you press Enter and the game visibly responds by rejecting the guess, the word may not be accepted by that site’s list. If typing or Enter produces no response, click or tap in the board to focus it and try again. On mobile, use the on-screen keyboard recommended by the Quordle.game FAQ. If the physical keyboard still appears ignored, reload once and test whether the page itself is responding to taps or clicks.
My unfinished game restarted, or my stats or streak are missing
Before troubleshooting, reopen the same site in the same browser profile on the same device. Do not clear cookies or site data as an early step: that can remove browser-stored information.

The independent quordle.uk guide says that its site has no accounts and stores stats and unfinished games in that browser. It warns that switching browsers or devices, using private browsing, or clearing data can make progress appear empty or remove it. This description applies to quordle.uk; it does not establish how Merriam-Webster’s Quordle or another Quordle-branded site stores, syncs, or recovers progress. If the address is not quordle.uk, check that site’s own help or support information before assuming progress is synced or recoverable.

When to report the problem
If the safe checks do not help, collect the exact page address, device and browser (including its version if handy), the precise symptom, when it began, and whether the game works in another browser, device, or network. A screenshot can also help explain a blank page, broken layout, or nonresponsive board.
