Quick Share is Samsung’s file-sharing feature built for fast, cable-free transfers between supported Samsung Galaxy devices and compatible computers. A recent update adds a more informative transfer experience by showing an updated file transfer progress animation during sends and receives.
If you’ve noticed the new animation while sharing photos, videos, documents, or APK files, this guide explains what it means, where you’ll see it, what prerequisites must be in place, and what to do when transfers stall or animations never appear.

What changed with Quick Share’s updated progress animation
The main difference is clarity. Instead of an ambiguous “sending” state, the updated animation gives you a visual progress indicator and clearer feedback that the transfer is actively moving, paused, or failing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIn practice, that means fewer guesswork moments like “Did it actually send?” and more immediate signals when something blocks the transfer (Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi state, device sleep, permissions, or connection issues).

Where you’ll see the progress animation
The progress animation appears on both the sending and receiving sides, depending on the app flow you’re using to share and the receiving device’s Quick Share readiness.
On a Galaxy phone or tablet
You’ll typically see the animation in the system share sheet flow and again in the Quick Share transfer status UI while files move over the connection.
On a Windows PC (Quick Share for Windows)
When sharing to a PC using Quick Share for Windows, the animation shows in the Windows transfer status window/prompt and reflects whether the PC is connected and actively receiving.
Prerequisites you should confirm before troubleshooting
Before you blame the animation, verify the basics. Quick Share relies on local networking and device discovery, and small mismatches can prevent a clean “active transfer” state.
Device and OS requirements
- Galaxy device: Android on a recent One UI build (commonly Android 13/14 era devices; some features expand across One UI releases).
- PC: Windows 10 or Windows 11 with Quick Share for Windows installed.
- Wi‑Fi: Both devices should have Wi‑Fi enabled. Quick Share may use Wi‑Fi Direct and/or local network paths depending on environment.
- Nearby discovery: Ensure device discovery is not blocked by restrictive settings.
Permissions and storage checks
- Files/photos permissions: If you’re sharing from Gallery or Files, confirm the originating app has storage access.
- Incoming storage: Confirm the receiving device has enough free space. Low storage can stop transfers midstream (sometimes the animation freezes right before failure).
- Battery optimization: Aggressive battery saving on either device can interrupt long transfers.
How to send files with Quick Share and interpret the animation
Use this flow to test the feature in a controlled way—one file, then a small batch, then a larger file.
From a Galaxy phone to another Galaxy device
- Open the file you want to share (for example, in Gallery or Files).
- Tap Share.
- Select Quick Share.
- Choose the target device from the Quick Share list.
- Watch the updated transfer progress animation on your screen.
When the transfer is healthy, you should see the animation move through progress states until the receiving device confirms completion.

From a Galaxy phone to a Windows PC
- On the PC, open the Quick Share for Windows app (or keep it running if it’s set that way).
- On the Galaxy phone, open the file and tap Share.
- Select Quick Share.
- Pick your PC from the device list.
- Confirm any Windows prompt that appears, then monitor the transfer progress animation.
On Windows, completion should reflect in the receiving directory and the transfer UI should stop progressing when done.

The new animation is most useful when transfers behave “almost working” but need a nudge. Here are typical cases.
Large files that take longer than expected
For multi-hundred-megabyte items (for example, a 4K video), the updated animation lets you judge whether the transfer is actively moving or stuck at the start.
Receiving device going idle
If the receiving device goes to sleep, some transfers stall. The animation may stop progressing, giving you a clearer clue that you should wake the screen and reattempt.
Multiple attempts queued back-to-back
Quick Share can get confused if you trigger another share while a previous transfer is still negotiating. The animation helps you confirm you should wait for completion or failure before starting again.

- Fast Charging: Supports Power Delivery for up to 60W high-speed charging when paired with a USB-C charger
- Versatile Compatibility: Works with virtually all USB-C devices, including phones, tablets, and laptops

1) Confirm both devices are reachable
- Turn Wi‑Fi off and back on for both devices.
- Keep screens awake on both ends during the transfer attempt.
- Move devices closer if you’re in an interference-heavy area (congested Wi‑Fi neighborhoods can affect local connection quality).
2) Disable aggressive power saving for the transfer window
- Temporarily turn off Power saving mode on the sending Galaxy device.
- On the receiving side, disable battery optimization for Quick Share if your system offers per-app controls.
Long transfers are the first to break when Doze or battery optimization throttles background networking.
3) Restart Quick Share readiness
- On the Galaxy device, open Quick Share settings and toggle it off, then back on.
- If you’re using a Windows PC, exit and reopen Quick Share for Windows.
When the animation never starts, this step often reinitializes discovery and negotiation.
4) Test with a smaller file first
Try a small photo (for example, a 2–5 MB image). If the animation works and the small file transfers, the issue is likely file size, permissions, or a specific file format.
5) Check app permissions on the sending device
- Go to Settings > Apps and find the originating app (Gallery, Files, etc.).
- Confirm Permissions include access to media/files needed for sharing.
6) Check storage on the receiving device
- Free up space if the receiving device is near full.
- On Windows, confirm the destination folder is writable and not redirected to a locked location.
7) If you’re sharing a video or archive, try a different format
Some media containers or very large archives can fail depending on the receiving app’s ability to write or index content. Testing with a common format (like JPEG for images) narrows it down.
Smart ways to avoid “stuck transfer” problems
You’ll get the most reliable results when you set up the environment for consistent local networking and clear UI feedback.
Use the share flow from the same app family
Sharing from the default Samsung system share sheet tends to produce the most consistent Quick Share UI states. If you share from a third-party app, confirm it uses the system share sheet rather than a custom in-app transfer.

Compatible with Laptop, Laptop Cooling Pad, Smart TV, USB in car, DVD player, USB 3.0 hub, Monitor, KVM, Camera, Wacom, Blu-ray Drive, Set Top Box, 2.5-Inch External Hard Drive Enclosure, and most USB 3.0 external hard drives with Type-A port.
Don’t start another transfer while one is negotiating
If you start a second share while the first connection is forming, you can trigger UI confusion. Wait until the animation reaches completion or fails before sending again.

Keep both devices awake for the duration
For multi-minute transfers, disable screen timeout temporarily (or at least keep the screens on). Wake/sleep events are a common trigger for stalled animations.
What to do when Quick Share fails but the animation shows “active”
Sometimes you’ll see progress movement but the transfer ends with an error or the file doesn’t appear on the receiver. Use the checklist below.
Verify the receiving directory and destination
- On the Galaxy receiving side, check your Quick Share incoming folder (or the folder associated with the receiving app).
- On Windows, confirm you’re looking in the folder Quick Share is configured to use for downloads/transfers.
Check for file name or path conflicts
If the receiving device already has a file with the same name, the transfer may pause or reject silently depending on how the UI is coded. Rename the source file and retry.
Reattempt with a single-file transfer
If batch transfers fail, send one file at a time to confirm whether the issue is triggered by the number of items or by one problematic file.
Quick comparisons: Quick Share vs Nearby Share-like behaviors
Quick Share may behave differently from other “nearby” sharing tools, especially in how it discovers devices and how it represents transfer states. The updated animation in Quick Share is specifically aimed at reducing ambiguity.

FAQ
Why does the Quick Share animation sometimes freeze at a certain point?
Freezing usually comes from a connection drop, battery optimization, insufficient storage on the receiver, or an unstable Wi‑Fi environment. Try a smaller file, keep screens awake, and confirm free space.
What if I don’t see the updated progress animation at all?
Your Quick Share build may be behind, or the transfer UI may be using a different flow when sharing from certain apps. Update system software on the Galaxy device and ensure Quick Share for Windows is up to date on your PC.
Can the updated animation tell me the exact percentage of transfer?
It typically provides a progress state/animation rather than a precise numeric percentage for every file type. The key indicator is whether the animation keeps advancing and whether completion confirmation appears.
Do I need Wi‑Fi on both devices for Quick Share?
Yes—Wi‑Fi needs to be enabled for discovery and connection setup. Quick Share may use Wi‑Fi Direct, but with Wi‑Fi disabled you’ll usually lose the reliable connection path.
Why does sending to Windows fail more often than sending to another Galaxy device?
Windows transfers add another layer: the Quick Share for Windows app state, Windows permissions, destination folder access, and occasional networking differences. Restart the Windows app, verify the destination directory, and test with a small file.
Bottom Line
Quick Share’s updated file transfer progress animation makes the sending experience more transparent—so you can tell whether a transfer is actively moving, stalling, or failing. When it doesn’t behave as expected, the fix is usually a connection readiness issue, power saving interference, or receiving-side storage/permissions.
If you want the best results, keep Wi‑Fi enabled, keep both screens awake during transfers, and test with a small file first. That combination will surface the real cause fast and get you back to reliable transfers.
