PushOwl Alternatives & Competitors (2026): How to Compare Them for Your Shopify Store

Omnisend is the closest named ecommerce alternative to PushOwl, but no single product is the best fit for every Shopify store. Compare workflows, channels and plan limits at your own volume.

No single PushOwl alternative is the best choice for every Shopify store. PushOwl positions itself as a Shopify retention tool covering email, web push, SMS and WhatsApp. Among the products named in the sources reviewed here, Omnisend is the closest like-for-like ecommerce suite. Other names on Product Hunt and G2 are discovery leads for different kinds of buyers. The practical test is whether a product runs your workflows at your own contact count and send volume, and what that costs at those numbers.

What PushOwl is built to do

PushOwl is listed on Product Hunt’s PushOwl page as a tool for re-engaging website visitors with push notifications. It is categorised among Shopify apps and its launch is recorded in 2017. Its Product Hunt listing describes the product this way: “PushOwl helps keep website visitors engaged even after they have left the website, by sending the right message to the right people at the right time.”

The current PushOwl homepage describes a Shopify omnichannel marketing app spanning email, push, SMS and WhatsApp. The vendor lists abandoned-cart recovery, price-drop alerts, back-in-stock notifications, segmentation, automation templates, analytics and integrations. These are PushOwl’s own descriptions of its product, not independently tested results.

Plan figures: what is stated and what to recheck

Pricing changes often, so treat the figures below as a snapshot from PushOwl’s pricing page and Omnisend’s pricing page as captured in 2026. Confirm the live numbers before you decide.

Item PushOwl Omnisend
Free email allowance 500 sends per month (PushOwl pricing page, 2026) Up to 500 emails per month, to a maximum of 250 contacts (Omnisend pricing page, 2026)
Free web push allowance Not stated in the sources reviewed Up to 500 web-push notifications per month (Omnisend pricing page, 2026)
Paid web push Displayed $19 web-push tier includes 10,000 successfully delivered notifications per month (PushOwl pricing page, 2026) Higher paid plans list different limits, including unlimited web push on the paid tiers shown (Omnisend pricing page, 2026)
Power bundle price $19/month power bundle as displayed (PushOwl pricing page, 2026) Not stated in the sources reviewed for every paid tier
Subscriber or contact cap PushOwl states there is no cap on the number of email subscribers (PushOwl pricing page, 2026) Free tier limited to 250 contacts; paid contact limits not stated in the sources reviewed

Two things make these rows hard to compare directly. PushOwl counts successfully delivered web-push notifications, while Omnisend’s free-tier web-push limit is expressed differently, and the two products use different units for email, contacts and sends. Read each limit in the unit the vendor uses before you add them up.

Which PushOwl alternatives are named in the sources

The alternatives lists are discovery sources. They show which products are commonly named next to PushOwl. They do not show that the products are interchangeable, and they do not rank them by performance. The products fall into two groups: Shopify-first ecommerce suites and broader customer-engagement or push-infrastructure platforms.

Omnisend: the closest ecommerce suite

Omnisend’s official pricing and features page covers web push, email, SMS and ecommerce workflows, which is the closest overlap with PushOwl’s channel set in the sources. The free and paid limits described above are the main points to compare against PushOwl’s, and the page is the primary source for its current plans.

Truepush for Shopify: a Shopify push option

Product Hunt’s alternatives page lists Truepush for Shopify as a Shopify push option. The sources reviewed did not confirm its current Shopify listing, integrations or pricing, so check its Shopify app listing directly before comparing it with PushOwl on features.

Customer.io: broader messaging automation

Customer.io appears among Product Hunt’s alternatives. It is a broader messaging and marketing automation product. Its current Shopify integration and comparative pricing were not verified in the sources, so it should not be treated as a like-for-like replacement for a Shopify-specific retention app. It may suit a team that already runs messaging across a non-Shopify product or app.

OneSignal, Braze, CleverTap and WebEngage: broader engagement platforms

G2’s PushOwl alternatives list places OneSignal, Braze, CleverTap and WebEngage in the same set. G2 describes them as broader messaging, engagement or retention platforms. They are worth evaluating when a team needs capabilities beyond one store’s notifications, such as cross-app or cross-platform engagement. Do not rank them against PushOwl without a specific use case and comparable evidence. A G2 listing shows that buyers consider them, not that they outperform a Shopify app.

How to compare them at your own volume

A universal ranking will not answer the question, because the cost and fit depend on your store. Work through these steps with each shortlisted product:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. List the workflows you need. Include cart abandonment, browse abandonment, welcome, post-purchase, price-drop and back-in-stock. For each one, check whether the product offers it as a built-in template or requires custom setup in its documentation.
  2. Decide the channels. Determine whether you need web push alone or email, SMS and WhatsApp together. Confirm whether SMS and WhatsApp are priced separately from the plan you are comparing. The sources reviewed do not establish this for every product.
  3. Measure your own volume. Record your current email list size, monthly email sends, and monthly web-push deliveries. Map each figure to the unit the vendor uses, because contacts, sends and delivered notifications are not interchangeable.
  4. Price the plan at your numbers. Find the tier where each limit fits your volume and total the monthly cost, including any add-ons. A store sending 60,000 emails a month, for example, will exceed a 500-send free allowance many times over, so free-tier figures do not describe its cost at all.
  5. Check onboarding and exit paths. Confirm how subscriber and consent data are imported, what support is offered during setup, and whether you can export your subscriber list if you leave.

Evidence limits to keep in mind

  • PushOwl’s homepage says it is “loved by 500,000+ stores” and displays “3,000 + Reviews on Shopify.” These are vendor claims and have not been independently verified.
  • The homepage states that “over 70% of online shoppers abandon their carts.” The captured text does not identify the underlying study or its date. Do not cite this figure as verified until you have located the original research.
  • No independent market-wide statistic and no dated head-to-head study of deliverability, conversion lift, support quality or total cost across these products was established in the sources. Any performance comparison you read should be checked against its method and date.
