Yes—but only within a defined scope. KPMG LLP’s Technical Privacy Assessment Letter, dated April 17, 2023, concluded that PureVPN met four specific no-logging claims by the end of its engagement. The work covered a sample of seven VPN servers and supporting infrastructure in six countries. It was not a certification of every PureVPN system, a full privacy review, or a cybersecurity assessment.
What KPMG validated
KPMG was engaged to assess whether PureVPN’s stated VPN connection-log policy matched four specific practices:

| Claim assessed | KPMG’s conclusion |
|---|---|
| Users’ origin IP addresses are not logged | Compliant at the end of the engagement |
| Assigned VPN IP addresses are not logged | Compliant at the end of the engagement |
| The specific connection time is not logged | Compliant at the end of the engagement |
| User activity through the VPN after connection is not logged | Compliant at the end of the engagement |
The assessment examined different VPN protocols and locations. KPMG’s letter identifies seven sampled VPN servers and supporting infrastructure in six countries.

What the audit did not establish
KPMG expressly states: “This mandate was not a cybersecurity assessment nor a full privacy assessment.” That limitation matters because a no-logging review is narrower than an examination of every privacy, security and data-processing practice.
- The letter does not say that every PureVPN server was examined.
- It does not certify that PureVPN processes no data of any kind.
- It does not evaluate all products, applications, add-ons or account systems.
- It does not guarantee future configurations or operations.
KPMG also says its findings were based on information and system configurations available during the assessment period, reflects the date its work ended, and carries no obligation to update the conclusions after later events. The letter is addressed for PureVPN’s use and restricts third-party reliance.
What PureVPN’s current policy says
PureVPN’s privacy policy, accessed September 28, 2026, uses narrower wording: its VPN connection logs do not collect a user’s origin IP, assigned VPN IP, specific connection time or activity through its servers. The policy separately describes data handling for optional services and account-related features.

Dedicated IP add-on
PureVPN says a Dedicated IP add-on assigns a fixed VPN IP and keeps that IP in its records for 25 days after the subscription ends.
Extended WireGuard Duration
For the manually configured Extended WireGuard Duration add-on, PureVPN says the fixed VPN IP remains in records for 24 hours after the subscription ends, or after the associated key is removed because of inactivity or disconnection.
Tracker and Ad Blocker
For its optional Tracker and Ad Blocker, PureVPN says it temporarily records the names of trackers and ads blocked and how often they are blocked. According to the policy, this information is held in system memory and automatically deleted.

PureVPN’s Trust Center currently says its no-logs policy has been verified by a top auditor for the fourth time. A related press-room announcement describes a fourth consecutive assessment and gives a February-to-April 2023 evaluation period but does not name the auditor in that announcement. The April 17, 2023 letter names KPMG LLP and provides the specific scope summarized here. Without a later assessment report, the 2023 letter should not be treated as proof of the scope or results of subsequent reviews.
Does PureVPN keep logs?
The most accurate answer is: PureVPN states that its VPN connection logs do not collect the four categories tested by KPMG—origin IP, assigned VPN IP, specific connection time and post-connection VPN activity. Certain optional services have separate retention or temporary-processing disclosures, including the Dedicated IP, Extended WireGuard Duration and Tracker and Ad Blocker features. KPMG’s conclusion applies to its sampled systems and 2023 engagement, not automatically to every present-day PureVPN service.
What readers should check before relying on the policy
- Read the current privacy policy, not only a “zero-log” headline.
- Check whether you use Dedicated IP, Extended WireGuard Duration, Tracker and Ad Blocker, or another optional feature with separate handling.
- Look for the date, named auditor, sampled systems and tested claims in any newer assessment.
- Treat a point-in-time technical assessment as evidence about the reviewed configuration, not an unconditional lifetime guarantee.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: KPMG’s April 2023 letter supports four specific PureVPN no-logging claims for the sampled infrastructure reviewed during that engagement. It does not amount to a blanket privacy or security certification, and PureVPN’s current policy still discloses limited retention or temporary processing for several optional features.
