None of the alternatives Product Hunt lists is established as a one-to-one match for that workflow. The right substitute depends on whether you need animated portraits, face swapping in existing footage, broad AI video generation, or avatar-style images. Check whether Puppets.World is still operating before you choose a replacement, because the available evidence does not confirm its current status.
What Puppets.World is described to do
Product Hunt describes Puppets.World as a tool for animating an image of a person, a portrait painting, or a hand-drawn sketch. The workflow is to record a video, choose an image, and use the “puppet” action. The resulting puppet repeats the words from the recording and copies its facial expressions. Product Hunt files the product under video editing, AI generative media, and AI headshot generators.

The maker, Svetlana Ragimova, described the underlying technology this way: “The technology developed by Puppets.World may look like deepfake, but it’s different.” She said it is closer to the face tracking used in computer games and movies. That is the maker’s own characterization, not an independent technical assessment.

Choosing between them
- You want the same performance-to-portrait workflow. No listed alternative is established as an equivalent. If Puppets.World is still available to you, it remains the only listed tool described for this exact job, and the others are partial substitutes.
- You want faces swapped into existing footage. Start with DeepSwap for online video, or Reface for mobile GIFs and short clips.
- You want broad AI video generation. Magic Hour is the most general option, but confirm that its inputs and outputs fit your project before relying on it.
- You want avatars or selfie-style images. Epic Selfie or a1.art fit that category. Confirm whether either accepts a recorded video before assuming it can animate a portrait.
- You are considering Muglife. Wait for a current capability description before comparing it.
Current status and historical statements
The Product Hunt listing reviewed in early October 2026 does not establish whether Puppets.World is live, maintained, or available in particular regions. The page links to an App Store presence, but that link does not confirm current availability.

Several statements on the listing are historical. Treat them as the maker’s past plans rather than current features:
- Voice-only animation was planned, with text-only input to follow later. Neither is confirmed as available.
- A maker said an Android version was being worked on. Another said a web version was planned for B2B use. Neither is verified as shipped.
- The maker described the product as mainly for fun, such as memes, birthday videos, and humorous messages to colleagues. A contact-center avatar integrated with chatbots was proposed as a possible business use. That is a proposal, not evidence of a deployed business product.
Comments in the listing’s question thread, including “Android when?”, “Or, why not web based?”, and “I really need this as i hate showing my face to make videos”, show that people want platform availability and faceless video creation. They are historical comments, not measures of current demand or current support.

Pricing and plan limits
No current, comparable pricing or plan-limit information was established for Puppets.World or any listed alternative. Product Hunt shows ratings and launch details, but those are listing signals, not evidence of how well a product performs. Check each vendor’s pricing page directly before comparing costs, and treat any figure you find as applying only to that vendor’s plans as of the date you check.
If you want a current comparison, verify three things for each candidate: whether it accepts recorded video as input, whether it produces a still-image animation or a face swap, and what it costs on the platform you use.
