Simulate a touch gesture with TouchHandle
touchStart() begins a touch and returns a handle for that active touch. Call move() on the handle to request a touch move, then call end() to finish it.

Use intermediate points for a multi-step path
For a gesture that should pass through several positions, make multiple move calls before ending the touch:

await touch.end();This expresses the path you want Puppeteer to request. It does not guarantee that the browser will emit a separate DOM touchmove event for every call.

Use a handle when the interaction requires movement. For a coordinate tap, the touchscreen tap helper is simpler; for an element tap, page.tap(selector) avoids calculating the element’s center yourself.
Account for browser touch-move behavior
Puppeteer’s reference warns that browser optimizations can affect touch-move dispatch: Chrome may throttle touch move events, so not every call to move() or touchMove() necessarily results in a corresponding DOM touchmove event. Tests should verify the behavior that matters to the page rather than assuming a one-to-one mapping between API calls and DOM events.

Touchscreen.touchMove(x, y) acts on the first active touch. When managing a touch started through touchStart(), retaining and using its returned TouchHandle makes the intended touch explicit.
Check the API docs for your installed Puppeteer version
Puppeteer’s retrieved API references identify TouchHandle, touchStart(), and touchMove() as Version 25.3.0, while the tap reference is labeled Version 25.2.1. These labels show that documentation is versioned; they do not establish the current release or when a method was introduced. Match the API reference to the package version in your project before relying on a signature or behavior.

Troubleshoot touch-gesture tests
- The interaction behaves like a tap, not a swipe: confirm that the script calls
move()betweentouchStart()andend(), and that the chosen coordinates describe a path across the intended area. - The page does not receive one event per move call: do not treat each method call as proof of a corresponding DOM event. Browser optimizations can throttle touch moves; assert the application outcome or the event behavior actually required by your test.
- The wrong target is tapped: if you are tapping an element, use
page.tap(selector); it brings the element into view if needed and taps its center. For a coordinate-based gesture, check the start and destination positions against the page. - A method or signature does not match the documentation you found: consult the documentation matching the Puppeteer version installed in the project. The retrieved references carry different version labels for gesture and tap APIs.
