To save a Puppeteer screenshot on Windows, install a supported Node.js version, install Puppeteer with its managed Chrome for Testing browser, then launch with headless: true and call page.screenshot(). The documented Windows setup does not specify India-specific requirements; your local network, proxy, administrator, or security policies may still affect downloads or browser launch.
What you need on Windows
The current documentation version cited here is Puppeteer 25.12.0. Its system requirements call for Node.js 22.12 or later and list Chrome for Testing support on Windows x64. Check the official system requirements before setup because supported versions can change.

The official setup pages describe Windows behavior, not a separate India-specific configuration. No special India-only browser flag, locale, or setting is established by those pages.

- Open PowerShell in your project directory and run
npm init -yif the project does not already have apackage.json. - Install Puppeteer with
npm install puppeteer. - If your package manager blocks lifecycle scripts and the browser was not downloaded, run
npx puppeteer browsers installfrom the project directory.
Puppeteer’s install guide gives an approximate Windows browser download size of 280 MB; this is an operational estimate, not a fixed size or benchmark. See the installation guide for the current download and setup behavior.
Choose puppeteer-core instead only when you intend to manage the browser yourself. In that case, specify an executablePath or an appropriate channel. Puppeteer says it is only guaranteed to work with its bundled browser, so a separately installed system Chrome may not match the Puppeteer version and can cause compatibility problems.
Choose a headless mode
Set the mode explicitly to make the intended behavior clear. In Puppeteer 25.12.0, headless defaults to true, but spelling it out documents the choice in your code.

Chrome for Testing supports both headless and headful operation through the same code path. The distinction and launch options are described in the headless modes guide and LaunchOptions API reference. A headless-shell binary is distinct from full Chrome and may suit automation that does not need the complete Chrome feature set; choose based on compatibility needs rather than assuming one mode is universally faster.
Save a full-page screenshot
Save the following as screenshot.mjs in your project directory, then run node screenshot.mjs. It uses ES module syntax, explicitly selects modern headless mode, sets a viewport, navigates, and saves a full-page PNG.

The output path is relative to the current working directory, so running the command from another directory changes where the image is written. Adjust the capture
fullPage: truecaptures the full page; it defaults tofalse, which captures the viewport.- The file extension determines the image type when no explicit screenshot type is supplied. The example’s
.pngpath produces a PNG. - Change the viewport dimensions in
page.setViewport()to match the layout you need. waitUntil: 'networkidle2'asks navigation to wait for a low level of network activity. Pages that continuously make requests may not reach that condition reliably; choose a different readiness condition or wait for a page-specific selector if needed.
Windows troubleshooting
Browser download did not happen
Some package managers block install lifecycle scripts, which can prevent Puppeteer’s browser download. From the project directory, run npx puppeteer browsers install. If the archive cannot be unpacked, verify that tar.exe or PowerShell is available, or use the optional yauzl dependency described in the installation guide.

Chrome fails under an enforced extension policy
On Windows, an enforced Chrome extension policy can prevent launch. Puppeteer normally passes --disable-extensions; the documented workaround is to set enableExtensions: true in launch options when that policy requires extensions. Consult the Puppeteer troubleshooting guide and your administrator before changing a managed browser configuration.
Sandbox permission error
For sandbox permission failures, Puppeteer 22.14.0 and later attempt to configure permissions with Chrome’s setup tool during browser installation. Confirm that the browser installation completed and review the current troubleshooting guidance rather than reflexively disabling the sandbox.

System Chrome launches incorrectly
If using puppeteer-core with a manually selected Chrome binary, confirm the executablePath points to the intended installation and that its version is compatible. Puppeteer guarantees compatibility only with its bundled browser, so try the managed puppeteer installation to isolate a browser-version mismatch.
Navigation times out or the page is blank
A local proxy, network restriction, site behavior, or security policy can prevent a page from loading in the allotted time. Check that the target URL opens from the same Windows environment, then inspect the navigation error and use a readiness condition appropriate to the site. The official Windows documentation does not establish India-specific network behavior, so diagnose the actual connection rather than adding regional flags without evidence.
