Set a custom user agent and capture the page
Install Puppeteer in your project if you have not already, then use this ES module example. It saves a full-page PNG and closes the browser even if navigation or capture fails.

}Replace ExampleBrowser/1.0 with the user-agent string for your test and change the target URL. Set the value before navigation: it applies to requests made afterward, not a page that has already loaded.

Choose the right screenshot scope
The screenshot guide and options reference support several capture approaches. Pick based on which part of the rendered page you need.
- Viewport: omit
fullPageand capture the currently visible area. - Full page: set
fullPage: trueto capture beyond the viewport. - Specific region: pass a
cliprectangle describing the page area to capture. - One element: locate the element and call
ElementHandle.screenshot()on it. If the element appears later, wait for or select it before capture.
Use path to write a file; its extension can determine the image format. Screenshot options also include type, quality, and omitBackground. Consult the ScreenshotOptions reference for the supported options and their requirements.

When a user agent is not enough
A user-agent override changes the configured user-agent value. It does not set mobile viewport dimensions. If you need a mobile-looking layout, configure a matching viewport or use Puppeteer device emulation before navigation. Puppeteer describes emulate(device) as a shortcut that sets both user agent and viewport, and recommends doing this before navigating because some sites do not expect viewport changes after load. Navigation readiness and common failures
The example uses waitUntil: 'networkidle2', as shown in Puppeteer’s screenshot guide. Readiness depends on the target page: a site with ongoing network requests may not reach a network-idle condition as expected. Choose a navigation readiness condition suited to that page, and wait for a specific element when the screenshot depends on it.
- The screenshot shows the wrong layout: set viewport or device emulation before
goto; a user-agent override alone does not set viewport dimensions. - The page appears incomplete: the chosen readiness condition may not match the page’s loading behavior. Consider waiting for the needed selector before capturing.
- The screenshot is only the visible area: set
fullPage: true, use acliprectangle, or capture the target element. - The output format is unexpected: check the output filename extension and the screenshot’s
typeoption. - Browser cleanup is skipped after an error: keep
browser.close()in afinallyblock, as in the example.
