There is no single best grader for every Pokémon card. If a sale is your priority, compare recent sold prices for the exact card in each company’s holder, then weigh those prices against the current grading cost, declared-value limit, turnaround estimate and submission availability. For a personal collection, choose the label and holder you prefer; if visible condition detail matters, Beckett’s four subgrades are a distinguishing feature. No service guarantees a particular grade or resale premium.
PSA, BGS and CGC at a glance
The services differ in grading presentation and current submission options. Fees, turnaround estimates and availability can change, so confirm them on each company’s official submission page before sending cards.

| Service | What the available information establishes | Current cost and availability information |
|---|---|---|
| PSA | PSA says cards are reviewed for authenticity and signs of doctoring before condition grading. Its numeric scale runs from 1 to 10, with 10 the highest grade. | PSA lists Standard at $59.99 per card, with a $1,000 maximum insured value and an estimated 90–100 business days; Priority is $79.99 per card, with a $1,500 maximum insured value and an estimated 70–80 business days. Estimates begin when an order enters PSA’s grading system and are not guaranteed. |
| Beckett (BGS) | Beckett describes a half-point scale and four subgrades: centering, corners, edges and surface. It reserves Black Label for perfect 10s. Beckett says its holders are tamper-evident. | At the time checked, Base and Standard card submissions were temporarily paused. Express was available through a temporary submission form; Beckett said availability could change with demand and capacity. Current purchasable Base or Standard prices and timelines are not stated. |
| CGC | The cited CGC fee information establishes tiered card-grading fees and estimated working-day turnaround times. It does not establish a cross-company equivalent for CGC grades. | Fees and estimated times depend on the selected tier. Exact current amounts and submission conditions should be checked on CGC’s official page; no specific figures are stated here. CGC says estimates are not guaranteed, and a card not yet in its database may take longer while it researches it. |
PSA reported processing approximately 90,000 cards per day globally in its February 2026 pricing and service update. That is a company-reported figure, not an independently audited measure, and it does not predict the turnaround for an individual order.

There is no reliable universal premium to apply across Pokémon cards. Resale depends on the specific card, its language and printing, the assigned grade and label, and the timing of the sale. A September 2026 secondary comparison reported different outcomes across cards and eras; its examples describe that source’s dataset, not a forecast for another card.
#1 Best Overall
- 50+ Pokemon Cards
- 5 Holos Guaranteed minimium per order
- 1 GX, EX, V, VMax, Full Art, Tag Team, or Secret Rare
For a useful comparison, look up recently completed sales—not just asking prices—for the same card and printing in each service’s holder. Keep label categories distinct: a PSA 10, a Beckett Black Label, and a grade described as Pristine are not interchangeable simply because a number or word sounds similar. If there are too few recent sales to make a fair comparison, treat any expected premium as uncertain rather than assuming one.
Choose by your goal
If you expect to sell the card
Let exact-card sold listings guide the choice, then compare the likely sale value with grading, shipping and handling costs. A higher historical sale for one holder does not guarantee the same result for your copy or at a future sale. Include the tier’s declared-value limit and whether submissions are currently being accepted before deciding.

If you want visible condition detail
Beckett’s four subgrades report centering, corners, edges and surface separately. That format can be useful if you want to see how the card was assessed in those areas. A subgrade does not make another company’s grade objectively convertible to Beckett’s scale.
If you are grading for your own collection
Holder appearance, label design and the grading format you prefer may matter more than market comparisons. Choose the service whose presentation you want to keep, while still checking its current fee and submission conditions.

How to decide for one specific card
- Identify the exact card. Match its name, set, language, printing or variant, and relevant version. Comparisons across different printings can mislead.
- Compare completed sales by holder and grade. Use recent sold results for that exact card. Separate Gem Mint, Pristine and Black Label results rather than grouping all top grades together.
- Check the service’s current submission page. Confirm that the tier is accepting orders, what it costs, its declared-value cap, estimated turnaround and any membership or submission requirements.
- Calculate the all-in cost. Include grading, shipping and handling, plus any applicable membership or submission conditions. Compare that total with plausible sale proceeds, not an assumed premium.
- Choose the information and holder you want. Decide whether a single numeric grade, Beckett’s subgrades or a particular holder and label best serves your goal.
- Recheck availability before mailing. Service estimates are not guarantees, and submission capacity can change. Follow the selected company’s current packaging and shipping directions.
What a grade does—and does not—tell you
Authentication and condition grading are separate stages. PSA says it first reviews submitted cards for authenticity and signs of doctoring; cards that pass authentication are then graded for condition. A numeric grade is the grader’s assessment under its own system, not a promise of a sale price or proof that another company would assign the same result.
Beckett says each card is assessed across centering, corners, edges and surface. That description explains what its subgrades represent, but it does not make the overall grade directly comparable with another service’s number. Compare the actual labels buyers are purchasing, not the number alone.

- Read the chosen grader’s current packaging directions; requirements can differ and may change.
- Recheck current fees, declared-value limits, estimated service times and open submission tiers immediately before mailing.
- Keep your own record of the card and order details, and use the submission and shipping instructions provided by the grader.
