What’s new in PS5 update 26.06-14.10.00?
PSX Brasil reported on October 2, 2026, that Sony had made version 26.06-14.10.00 available. The report reproduces two patch-note statements attributed to Sony:

- “We’ve made some security fixes to the system software.”
- “We’ve improved system software performance and stability.”
Those are the changes described in the version-specific report. It gives no technical changelog, CVE identifiers, affected components, download size, measured performance results, or confirmed feature additions. It does not establish that the update addresses a particular exploit or named issue.

The version-specific notes come from secondary reporting. Sony’s support page provides general PS5 update and installation instructions, but does not supply a version-specific entry for this release in the material available here.

How to check for and install the update
Use the PS5’s online updater
- On the console, open Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings.
- Select Update System Software if an update is available, then follow the on-screen instructions.
Use a USB drive if the online update fails
Sony also documents a manual installation route using a PC or Mac and a USB drive formatted as FAT32 or exFAT. Download the official PS5 update file from Sony, put it in the prescribed PS5/UPDATE folder with the filename Sony specifies, then start the console in Safe Mode and choose the USB update option. Folder names, filenames, and the Safe Mode procedure need to match Sony’s current instructions; use only Sony’s update file. See Sony’s PS5 system software update guide for the current steps.
Sony cautions against using update data from unofficial sources or undocumented installation methods, and against updating just before or after a power outage. Do not turn the console off during installation: interrupting the process can damage the system.

Why install PS5 system software updates?
Sony says system software updates include security updates and recommends installing the latest release promptly. Its general notice warns that an out-of-date console may face security risks or may not function properly. That guidance explains why keeping current matters, but it does not identify which security issues version 26.06-14.10.00 fixes.
