If you want to play PS4 games on an Android phone, use Sony’s PS Remote Play app: it streams the PS4’s screen to Android, while the phone sends your controls back to the console. It does not mirror an Android phone’s screen onto a PS4. Sony’s setup guide is at PS4 Remote Play on Android.
What you need before you start
- A PS4 connected to the internet, with Remote Play enabled and activated as your account’s primary PS4.
- An Android phone or tablet running Android 9 or later for on-screen controls.
- The PS Remote Play app from Google Play and the same PlayStation account on the app and console.
- A reliable internet connection. Sony recommends at least 5 Mbps upload and download; 15 Mbps or more is recommended for a better experience.
A controller is optional. Sony’s current compatibility guidance supports a DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller on Android 10 or later and a DualSense wireless controller on Android 12 or later. Compatibility can depend on the Android device maker’s controller drivers; check your handset’s support information. See Sony’s Remote Play compatibility guidance.

Set up the PS4 for Remote Play
- On the PS4, go to Settings > Remote Play Connection Settings and turn on Enable Remote Play.
- If you want to connect while the console is in Rest Mode, go to Settings > Power Save Settings > Set Features Available in Rest Mode. Turn on Stay Connected to the Internet and Enable Turning on PS4 from Network.
- Go to Settings > Account Management > Activate as Your Primary PS4, then select Activate. A PlayStation account can have only one activated PS4 as its primary console.
Connect your Android phone or tablet
- Install PS Remote Play from Google Play.
- Open the app and sign in with the same PlayStation account used on the PS4.
- Turn on the PS4, or leave it in Rest Mode if you enabled network wake-up. In the app, select PS4 and let it find and connect to the console.
- Test the connection at home, near the PS4, before relying on Remote Play away from home.
When connected, the PS4’s video appears on the Android device and controls are sent from the device to the console. Sony’s detailed instructions are on its Android Remote Play support page.

Choose touch controls, a controller, or a connection
On-screen controls or a Bluetooth controller
- On-screen controls: available on Android 9 or later, with no extra hardware. They are a straightforward way to try Remote Play, though they may feel less familiar than a physical controller.
- DUALSHOCK 4: supported over Bluetooth on Android 10 or later.
- DualSense: supported on Android 12 or later.
For either wireless controller, check the phone maker’s guidance if pairing or controls do not work as expected; Android version alone does not guarantee compatibility with every handset.

Wi-Fi or mobile data
Remote Play can use Wi-Fi or mobile data. Wi-Fi avoids using your mobile plan’s allowance. Mobile data lets you play without Wi-Fi, but Remote Play can use substantially more data than typical video-streaming services. Check your plan and select a suitable mobile-streaming video quality in the app. Actual quality depends on the network environment and, on mobile, the carrier.
Improve a weak or failed connection
- Confirm that the PS4 is online, updated, and configured for Remote Play; confirm it is activated as your primary PS4.
- Check that the app and PS4 are signed in to the same PlayStation account.
- Test close to the console, reduce other traffic on the network, and try 5 GHz Wi-Fi if available.
- If ordinary checks do not resolve the problem, review the router’s NAT and firewall settings. Sony identifies UDP port 8572 as the Remote Play connection port and warns that NAT Type 3 may prevent Remote Play. Router changes are a later troubleshooting step, not a basic setup requirement. Follow Sony’s Remote Play connection troubleshooting guidance before changing network settings.
Games and features that do not work during Remote Play
Remote Play is not available for every game. Games that require PlayStation VR, PS VR2, or PlayStation Camera are among those that do not support it. During a Remote Play session, Sony also lists these restrictions:

- Broadcasting PS4 gameplay
- Playing Blu-ray or DVD discs
