No published figures yet quantify the gain.
What changed from the CORE One L to the L+
According to Tom’s Hardware’s review, the L+ adds two things: a silicone nozzle brush/wiper and GT1.5 timing belts. The reviewer, Denise Bertacchi, calls it a small but important update. She says the tighter tooth spacing of the belts, together with the drive gears, makes an already precise motion system more precise and gives smoother surfaces (Tom’s Hardware, published September 18, 2026).

That is a qualitative observation. The review as retrieved gives no surface-roughness numbers and no dimensional-accuracy comparison against the CORE One L, so “more precise” here means “looks smoother to an experienced reviewer”, not “measurably within a set tolerance”.

- Reported: smoother surfaces, attributed by the reviewer to GT1.5 belts and drive gears.
- Not reported: a controlled dimensional test or a model-specific tolerance for the L+.
- General Prusa statement: Prusa’s support FAQ cites tolerances of 0.1 mm on Z and 0.3 mm on X and Y for a well-assembled Original Prusa printer (Prusa Knowledge Base). This is a brand-wide statement, not an L+ specification, and shouldn’t be read as the L+’s measured accuracy.

Check the standard L+’s current official material limits before buying for a specific filament. Prusa’s product page that turned up is for the L+ INDX 8-tool variant, which lists 1.75 mm filament and 0.25, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6 and 0.8 mm nozzle sizes (Prusa Research). That is a different configuration, so don’t assume those details apply to the standard L+.
#1 Best Overall
- [MASSIVE LARGE-FORMAT BUILD VOLUME]: 11.8×11.8×12.99 in print space enables full-scale industrial parts, architectural models, and cosplay helmets without splitting or assembly.
- [ACTIVELY HEATED 60°C CHAMBER]: Stable chamber temperature ensures improved layer adhesion and reduced warping when printing advanced materials such as ASA, ABS, PC, and Nylon.
- [TRUE UNPACK AND PRINT EXPERIENCE]: Fast setup with minimal calibration required. Automated sensors handle leveling and print preparation for a smooth start within minutes.
- [HIGH-RIGIDITY COREXY PRECISION FRAME]: Steel exoskeleton design provides maximum stability for high-speed printing with consistent dimensional accuracy and professional surface finish.
- [HIGH-FLOW SPEED OPTIMIZATION]: CoreXY motion system combined with high-flow extrusion enables fast, reliable printing across a wide range of materials.
Setup and real-world use
The reviewer says factory calibration leaves little to do and describes starting a first print in about five minutes. That is her experience, not a guaranteed setup time. She also printed clips in Polymaker PA6-CF20, a carbon-fibre nylon. One material example doesn’t establish how reliably the machine handles the whole range of engineering filaments, and the review does not claim independent lab testing.
Should CORE One L owners upgrade?
Prusa lists a CORE One L-to-L+ upgrade kit containing GT1.5 belts and a nozzle wiper (Prusa Lineup Upgrade). Confirm current availability, price and compatibility with your unit first. Since the hardware difference is just those parts, an upgrade is a far cheaper route than replacing the machine, if the smoother surfaces matter to you.

Who should buy the L+
For new buyers, the L+ is the sensible pick over the L if prices are close, as the added parts are the only listed differences. When comparing against other printers, weigh:
- Build volume and footprint
- The materials and temperatures you actually need
- Print-quality evidence beyond a single review
- Setup, maintenance and upgradeability
- Connectivity needs and total cost, including filament
