Which professional apps does Samsung highlight?
Samsung’s September 30, 2026 announcement presents the following apps as examples of creative and productivity workflows for the Galaxy Tab S12 series. They are not all the same kind of offer: some are preloaded, some have advertised access periods or discounts, and others are standard apps to check in the relevant store.

Take notes and study
Samsung Notes is the straightforward choice for handwriting with the included S Pen, annotating material, and using Note Assist to summarize notes. Samsung also describes Notability as optimized for S Pen note capture and organization, with AI-driven study tools. Goodnotes is another note-taking and organization option. Which one suits you best depends on the app features you need and the access terms available where you live.
Edit images and create illustrations
Photoshop for Tablet is intended for tablet-focused image editing and design. Samsung lists Adobe Firefly-powered features including Generative Fill and Image to Video, plus AI Assistant, which it says is in beta. These are Samsung’s launch descriptions, not independent findings about how the app performs on S12 hardware. Clip Studio Paint is Samsung’s named option for precision drawing and painting.

As of October 2, 2026, Photoshop for Tablet’s announced Galaxy Store release date—October 7—was still in the future. Samsung said the app would be Galaxy Store-exclusive for at least six months from launch; check availability after that date rather than assuming it is already downloadable.

Samsung names LumaFusion for professional-grade video editing. The launch announcement’s discount is an offer claim, not a measure of the app’s performance or a guarantee that the same price applies in every country.

Notion is the featured option for writing, planning, and organization. Check the plan name and terms presented in your region: Samsung’s global launch announcement and US page describe different one-month offers.
How do the tablets and accessories fit these workflows?
Samsung announced two models. Its US product page lists a 14.6-inch display for the Tab S12 Ultra and a 12.6-inch display for the Tab S12+. Both use the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, according to Samsung US. The larger Ultra gives more screen area for canvases, timelines, and side-by-side work; the Plus is the smaller option if portability matters more.

Both tablets include an S Pen, which Samsung positions for handwriting, annotation, sketching, and precise input. Samsung says Multi Window can show up to three sections, useful for placing notes beside a lecture or an AI assistant. This describes the platform workflow, not a guarantee that every app can use every feature at once.
For keyboard-heavy work, Samsung lists the separately sold Pro Keyboard and Book Cover Keyboard Slim. Can a Galaxy Tab S12 replace a laptop?
Samsung describes the Ultra paired with its Pro Keyboard and DeX as laptop-like, but it also cautions that specialized software may still require a laptop. The named apps establish that the tablets are aimed at real work; they do not establish desktop-app parity. Before relying on an S12 as your only computer, check that the Android version of each essential app supports the exact functions, file formats, external services, and peripherals your work requires.
Samsung’s processor and battery figures are manufacturer claims, not independent test results: it says the S12 series is up to 61% faster in NPU, 19% faster in CPU, and 17% faster in GPU versus the Tab S11 Ultra. Samsung also lists up to 23 hours of video playback for the Ultra and 21 hours for the S12+. Those figures do not establish app-specific speed or battery life during professional workloads. What to check before choosing an app
- Confirm the tablet edition: Look for the Android or tablet version and verify it includes the functions you need, rather than assuming a desktop version’s full feature set is present.
