ProblemOfTheDay is documented as a project that posts a real problem every day, and Product Hunt files it under social networking and microblogging. Product Hunt’s own alternatives page groups substitutes by goal: broader reach (Twitter and Threads), a decentralized network (Bluesky), community debate or anonymity (Squabblr and Truth or Truth), and founder-oriented problem discovery and product feedback (Microlaunch, yesRamen, ProblemHunt and others). Those groupings reflect how Product Hunt describes each product. They are not a ranking, and they do not show that any option performs better than another.
What ProblemOfTheDay is, and what is confirmed
ProblemOfTheDay’s Product Hunt profile describes it with the tagline “Posting a real problem, every single day.” The profile names Colin Whinall as the project runner and places the product in the social networking and microblogging categories. That is the core of what can be verified about the project.

Product Hunt also records two launches: the original “Problem of the day” on June 20, 2018, and “Problem of the day v2.0” on July 24, 2020. Those dates show the product’s launch history. They do not show that the service is running today.
Is ProblemOfTheDay still active?
This is the most important open question, and it cannot be answered with confidence from the sources available for this guide (accessed October 7, 2026). Here is what is and is not established:
#1 Best Overall
- Established: the product’s Product Hunt profile, its category, its tagline, its runner, and its 2018 and 2020 launch dates.
- Not established: whether new problems are being posted now, which features work, or how users sign in or post.
- Blocked at check time: the official website linked from the Product Hunt profile did not return readable content, so its current activity and access options could not be confirmed.
- Not found: any published user numbers, engagement figures, or performance statistics for the product. This guide does not quote any.
Before you move your habit anywhere, open the official site yourself and check the date of the most recent problem. If it is months old or the site does not load, treat the product as inactive and choose an alternative from the sections below.
Alternatives by reader goal
Most people looking for a ProblemOfTheDay substitute want one of four things. The table below maps each goal to the options Product Hunt suggests.
| Your goal | Options Product Hunt lists | What the listing says each is for |
|---|---|---|
| Reach a large existing audience | Twitter, Threads | Suggested for broader reach |
| Use a decentralized social network | Bluesky | Suggested as a decentralized option |
| Community debate or anonymity | Squabblr, Truth or Truth | Squabblr: community-powered social platform; Truth or Truth: suggested for anonymity, with no further detail in the listing |
| Open social posting and feeds | Fupio, #buildinpublic | Fupio: open social RSS reader; #buildinpublic: discover what people are building in public |
| Founder problem validation and idea sharing | ProblemHunt, Indie News, Oasis of Ideas, Hatchli, MakersTower, The Eureka Database | Centered on unresolved problems, idea sharing, and maker or startup communities |
| Launch feedback and early customers | Microlaunch, yesRamen | Microlaunch: launch products and gather feedback and customers over a month; yesRamen: give and receive feedback on digital products |
Broader audience: Twitter and Threads
Twitter and Threads are the options Product Hunt suggests when the goal is reach. A large general feed means more readers, but a daily prompt also competes with everything else posted that day. This is a reasoning point about how general feeds work, not a measured result for either platform. If your ProblemOfTheDay habit depended on a small, focused group, a general feed may feel more diffuse.

Rank #2
Decentralized social: Bluesky
Product Hunt lists Bluesky as the decentralized choice. If you want posting that is not tied to one central platform, Bluesky is the closest fit in this group. Check its current account, feed, and posting settings directly, since this guide did not test them.
Community debate and anonymity: Squabblr and Truth or Truth
Product Hunt groups Squabblr and Truth or Truth under community-powered debate or anonymity. Squabblr is described as a community-powered social platform. Truth or Truth is suggested for anonymity, but the listing gives no further detail, so check its posting rules and identity settings before you rely on them.
Other social and building-in-public options
#buildinpublic
Described as a place to discover what people are building in public. It is closer to a feed of builders’ updates than to a daily problem prompt.
Fupio
Described as an open social RSS reader. It is useful if your interest is following and reading posts rather than publishing a daily question.

This group is the most different from ProblemOfTheDay. Its options are built around validating problems, sharing ideas, and launching products, so they suit people who want to build something, not just post a daily prompt. Product Hunt describes them as adjacent options, not direct substitutes.
ProblemHunt
ProblemHunt is a separate product with its own Product Hunt page, and it should not be confused with ProblemOfTheDay. Its proposition centers on unresolved problems. Its page lists Indie Hackers, PainKwest, MicroFounder, The Eureka Database, and Microlaunch as related communities and services. Its page is also titled “Looking for ProblemHunt alternatives?”, which is a separate search from the ProblemOfTheDay alternatives page.
Rank #4
Microlaunch
Microlaunch is described as a place to launch products and get feedback and customers over a month. It fits makers who have something to show, not people looking for a daily prompt.
Indie News, Oasis of Ideas, Hatchli, and MakersTower
Product Hunt categorizes these around idea sharing, maker communities, or startup communities. They are the most relevant if you want to share early ideas with other builders. Each one should be checked separately for current activity and sign-up requirements.
yesRamen
yesRamen is described as a place to give and receive feedback on digital products. It suits people who want critique of an app, site, or tool rather than a daily prompt to discuss.

How to choose: a five-point check
Use these questions to narrow the list before you sign up anywhere.
- Audience size. Do you want a large general audience or a focused community? Broad feeds favor reach; small communities favor sustained conversation.
- Posting model. Is it open posting, or does the product run on prompts or problem discovery? A daily prompt is a different habit from an open feed.
- Discussion or one-way sharing. Do you want replies and critique, or just a place to publish?
- General social or founder validation. Are you sharing personal observations, or testing whether a problem is worth building a product around?
- Current access and activity. Open the site, confirm you can sign up or post, and check the date of the latest entry. Activity can change, and no listing on this page guarantees it.
If you are still unsure after those five questions, pick the option that matches your most important goal and test it for two weeks before committing.
For ProblemOfTheDay itself, the open question is whether the original service is still being updated. Until its official site loads and shows recent posts, treat it as unconfirmed rather than active.
