PRISM Live Studio YouTube Stream Data Usage per Day in India

Estimate daily PRISM Live Studio data use from your average bitrate and streaming hours, with examples for 360p, 720p and 1080p.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

PRISM Live Studio data use depends mainly on your stream’s average bitrate and how long you broadcast—not on a fixed daily amount. Estimate it with average bitrate in Mbps × 0.45 × streaming hours = approximate decimal GB. For example, a three-hour stream averaging 4 Mbps uses about 5.4 GB before unquantified overhead. These are calculations from PRISM’s bitrate guidance, not measurements of Indian carrier deductions.

Estimate your data use per day

One megabit per second sustained for an hour is about 450 decimal megabytes, which is the basis for the 0.45 multiplier. Enter the stream’s average bitrate and your total streaming hours for the day:

Average bitrate (Mbps) × 0.45 × hours streamed = approximate decimal GB

For instance, at 4 Mbps for three hours: 4 × 0.45 × 3 = approximately 5.4 GB. The estimate covers outgoing stream data before overhead that is not quantified here. Decimal GB makes comparison with data allowances easier, but a phone’s display or carrier may use a different accounting convention.

PRISM bitrate guidance translated into daily data

PRISM’s FAQ gives bitrate ranges for common resolutions. The figures below assume the selected rate is sustained for the entire period; the 24-hour figures illustrate continuous streaming rather than typical daily use.

Resolution and PRISM FAQ bitrate range Approx. GB per hour Approx. GB for 3 hours Approx. GB for 24 hours
360p, 1–2 Mbps 0.45–0.9 1.35–2.7 10.8–21.6
720p, 2–4 Mbps 0.9–1.8 2.7–5.4 21.6–43.2
1080p, 4–6 Mbps 1.8–2.7 5.4–8.1 43.2–64.8

Use your planned daily hours rather than the 24-hour column if you stream for only part of the day. Resolution is not enough to determine a precise total: use the bitrate you actually select or observe, and account for stream duration.

Why your actual data use can differ

Selected and average bitrate

Bitrate is the amount of data sent per second, so it is the main input in the estimate. PRISM recommends 4,000 kbps for 720p and 6,000 kbps for 1080p when aiming for its highest-quality setting. These are recommendations, not mandatory rates; PRISM’s FAQ gives ranges, and your settings may differ.

Adaptive bitrate and network conditions

PRISM’s Adaptive Bitrate Publish changes quality in response to network conditions. If it lowers the bitrate during a session, calculating from the maximum or selected rate for every minute can overstate use. Use the session’s average bitrate if it is available. PRISM also says adaptive bitrate can reduce video quality when bandwidth is insufficient and recommends having more network bandwidth than the stream requires.

TP-Link AC1200 Gigabit Dual Band WiFi Router (Archer A6)
  • Dual band router upgrades to 1200 Mbps high speed internet (300mbps for 2.4GHz plus 900Mbps for 5GHz), reducing buffering and ideal for 4K stream
  • Full Gigabit Ports - Gigabit Router with 4 Gigabit LAN ports, ideal for any internet plan and allow you to directly connect your wired devices
  • Boosted Coverage - Four external antennas equipped with Beamforming technology extend and concentrate the Wi-Fi signals
  • MU-MIMO technology - (5GHz band) allows high speeds for multiple devices simultaneously
  • Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home

Frame rate and stability

Frame rate and other selected settings also matter; PRISM’s FAQ recommends 30 fps for normal live broadcasting. A changing or unstable connection can affect the delivered quality and bitrate, so a resolution label by itself cannot provide an exact daily data total.

Check your own daily allowance

  1. Find the stream’s configured or observed average bitrate in PRISM, in Mbps. If the value is shown in kbps, divide by 1,000 to convert it to Mbps.
  2. Add up the hours you expect to stream that day.
  3. Multiply average Mbps by 0.45 and then by those hours to estimate decimal GB.
  4. Compare the estimate with your current carrier allowance, then check your device or carrier’s usage reading after streaming. The calculation does not predict exactly what a specific Indian carrier will deduct.

Does a 24/7 YouTube stream change the calculation?

Yes: substitute 24 hours in the same formula if the stream really runs continuously. At a sustained 4 Mbps, that is approximately 43.2 decimal GB per day before unquantified overhead. This is an illustration, not a claim about typical use or an India-specific carrier measurement. Recalculate using the actual average bitrate if adaptive mode changes the rate.
