You can receive salah reminders in Slack by installing Prayer Times Bot for Slack, running /prayer, and choosing your location, prayers, notification destination, and language. Its creator describes location-based alerts for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha; the setup and features below reflect the app’s published instructions, not an independent test.
What the Slack prayer bot is described to do
Khaled Abdel-Fattah’s DEV Community article describes a free Slack app that sends reminders based on a selected location. It says users can choose all five daily prayers or only selected ones, and receive alerts in a direct message or a channel. The article also describes automatic timezone handling, English or Arabic notifications, Hadith reminders, and installation in multiple workspaces through OAuth. Its listed coverage is 100+ cities, a claim from the author rather than an independently verified coverage figure.

The app’s product page advertises additional options: alerts before adhan, a reminder as a prayer time approaches its end, a Slack status that changes for prayer and later reverts, pause and resume, a prayer-partner finder, and daily Hadith and tafseer features. It also advertises Arabic and English interface modes and DM or channel delivery. These are product-page claims; check the app itself to confirm which options are currently available in your workspace.
How to set up prayer reminders in Slack
- Install Prayer Times Bot for Slack in the workspace where you want reminders. The creator’s setup description says installation uses Slack authorization.
- In Slack, run
/prayerto open the setup flow. - Enter your country and city so the app can associate reminders with a location.
- Choose all five prayers or select the prayers you want reminders for.
- Choose where reminders should appear: a direct message or a channel. If you select a channel, make sure the bot can post there.
- Select a language if the setup offers the choice, then save the settings.
The creator says notifications then run automatically. The available published material does not specify a calculation method or explain how to validate the resulting times against a local mosque or authority.

How to check prayer times with Slack commands
The support page lists these commands for looking up times:
/prayer_times today— today’s prayer times./prayer_times tomorrow— tomorrow’s prayer times./prayer_times now— the next prayer time, according to the support page.
The support page also lists language commands, but the retrieved instructions do not specify their exact syntax. Use the app’s Slack help or support page for the current command form.

What to check if reminders do not arrive
- Confirm the saved location. The support page recommends checking the selected location. A wrong country or city can make the schedule unsuitable for your workplace.
- Check channel access. For channel delivery, confirm that the bot has permission to post in the selected channel. If it does not, choose another destination or correct its channel access.
- Check your configured prayers and destination. Make sure the intended prayers are selected and that you are looking in the chosen DM or channel.
- Compare a displayed time with a trusted local reference. The available product materials do not state the calculation method, so do not assume that a displayed time matches your mosque’s timetable without checking.
Privacy, accuracy, and workplace fit
The product page includes FAQ questions about location privacy, prayer-time accuracy, and Slack plan compatibility, but the retrieved page content does not provide answers. It therefore does not establish what location or workspace data the app retains, which calculation method it uses, or which Slack plans it supports. Before adopting it for a team, review the current permissions and privacy information presented during installation, and confirm compatibility with your workspace administrator.
