The POLO by Rinnai PQ10CWF is a cooling-only portable air conditioner rated at 2.7 kW for rooms of 12–20 m², according to Rinnai Australia. Its published specifications and feature list make it a plausible room-by-room option if you can vent it through a suitable window and accept a sizeable appliance indoors. The available evidence is manufacturer information, not independent testing, so it does not establish how quickly or quietly the unit will cool a particular room.
What the PQ10CWF is—and what the specifications tell you
Rinnai Australia lists the POLO by Rinnai PQ10CWF as a portable, cooling-only air conditioner. Its product page describes it as suitable for bedrooms, home offices and personal spaces. The figures below are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent measurements; the page does not state a publication year.

The 12–20 m² figure is a useful starting point, not a guarantee that the unit will maintain a comfortable temperature in every room of that size. Rinnai notes that portable-air-conditioner performance depends on room conditions and insulation. Sun exposure, heat-producing equipment, ceiling height and how well the exhaust opening is sealed can also affect the practical cooling load, so consider the room itself rather than relying on floor area alone.
The 1000 W input and EER 2.7 W/W are listed ratings. Without comparable test conditions and an energy tariff, they do not establish a household’s actual electricity use or running cost. Likewise, the 43/44 dB(A) sound-pressure figures are Rinnai’s specifications, not a basis for calling the unit quiet in a real room. Rinnai says portable units may be noisier indoors than split systems, whose compressor is generally outside.

Does it suit your room and setup?
Room size and cooling expectations
At Rinnai’s stated 12–20 m² application range, the PQ10CWF is aimed at a single modest room or personal space, rather than whole-home cooling. If your room is larger, poorly insulated or exposed to substantial afternoon sun, the listed area alone is not enough to assume satisfactory results.
Window exhaust and floor space
Like other portable air conditioners, the PQ10CWF must send hot air outside. Rinnai explicitly says it “requires venting through a window to exhaust hot air.” The product page lists a ventilation kit, but check that the included parts can seal your particular window arrangement. A poor seal or an unsuitable opening can undermine the intended setup.
There is no permanent installation requirement in the same sense as a split system, and the unit can be moved between rooms. In practice, moving a 31.1 kg appliance and setting up its exhaust each time takes effort. Measure the available floor area and route to the window before buying; the listed dimensions are 780 × 455 × 380 mm.

Controls, drainage and upkeep
Remote, Wi-Fi and modes
Rinnai lists a remote controller, Wi-Fi app control through NetHome Plus, adjustable temperature, a timer and sleep mode. The manufacturer says the app supports control away from home and voice-control compatibility. App use is optional; Rinnai notes that NetHome Plus is a third-party application and that its own privacy policy does not govern that provider’s practices. Check the app’s current terms and privacy policy, as well as device compatibility, before relying on connected control.
Water alarm and drainage
The product page lists a built-in water alarm and says routine water emptying is not required, but its caveat is important: high-humidity climates may require drainage. Treat “no water-emptying” as a normal-use convenience claim, not a promise that the unit will never need draining. Follow the current operation and installation manual if the water alarm activates or drainage is required.
Filter care
Rinnai lists a washable filter. Keep to the cleaning and maintenance directions in the current PQ10CWF manual rather than assuming a schedule or procedure from a different model.

What is established—and what remains uncertain
Rinnai’s product page provides the model identity, specifications, listed features and general guidance about portable air conditioners. It does not provide an independent PQ10CWF performance test, controlled cooling results, a current price, or local stock information. The listed sound, capacity and efficiency figures should therefore be read as manufacturer data, not as verified outcomes in a customer’s room.

Rinnai says it does not sell directly to the public and lists Harvey Norman, Domayne and Joyce Mayne as stockists. The page does not establish today’s price or whether a particular store has the unit in stock, so confirm both with the retailer.

Rinnai links an operation and installation manual and a separate Wi-Fi smart-kit manual from its product page. Use the current manufacturer documents for window installation, operation and maintenance; a secondary-hosted manual copy is not a substitute for confirming that its instructions match your unit.
Verdict
The PQ10CWF is best viewed as a spec-led option for targeted cooling in a room within Rinnai’s stated 12–20 m² range, provided a window can accommodate the exhaust and the unit’s size and indoor noise suit your space. Its feature list covers remote and app control, timer and sleep functions, a washable filter and a water alarm. The available evidence is not enough to call it a quiet, low-cost-to-run or superior performer; those judgments require conditions and comparisons the manufacturer page does not provide.
