What is the Polo PH26CWF?
It is a portable room air conditioner designed to cool one room. Rinnai lists it as cooling-only, so it does not provide heating. The model has remote and Wi-Fi control, adjustable temperature control, a timer, sleep mode, a washable filter and a water alarm. A ventilation kit is supplied. How much can it cool, and what room size is it for?
Rinnai specifies a cooling capacity of 2.56 kW and gives a minimum application area of 9–20 m². These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results or a guarantee for a particular room. Room conditions matter: heat from sunlight or appliances, insulation, air leaks and the room’s layout can affect the outcome. Rinnai’s brochure says best performance requires a well-insulated, sealed ground-floor room. Check the manufacturer’s product information and portable cooling brochure for its guidance.

Installation is essential to cooling
The unit draws in room air, cools it and discharges it at the front. Its exhaust hose carries hot air out through the supplied window kit. The manufacturer’s brochure warns: “Hot air must be exhausted outside the room being cooled, or the room will not cool.” A poorly sealed window or a hose that vents indoors undermines the setup. Follow the supplied installation instructions and use the kit to route the exhaust outdoors. The brochure also recommends a well-insulated, sealed ground-floor room. Water, filter and operating considerations
Rinnai markets the PH26CWF as not requiring routine water emptying, but also notes that humid conditions can make drainage necessary. The water alarm is a useful feature, not a reason to ignore drainage instructions. Check the operation and installation manual linked from Rinnai’s product page for the model-specific procedure. The washable filter can be maintained according to that manual; do not assume a universal cleaning interval.

What do public reviews and test results show?
CHOICE has a public Polo PH26CWF review listing. It identifies the appliance as a cooling-only portable air conditioner, displays A$549 and labels availability “Discontinued model.” That displayed price is not a verified current retailer offer. CHOICE’s Expert Rating, cooling and energy-efficiency scores, high-fan noise result and other test fields are member-only, so a public score or conclusion cannot be reported from the listing. Is the PH26CWF still available?
CHOICE labels it discontinued, but Rinnai’s Australian product page still presents its specifications and a stockist locator. Rinnai says it sells through third-party stockists and installers rather than directly to the public; the product page does not establish that new units remain in stock. Check with a local stockist for current availability and price, and confirm whether a listing is for old stock or a successor model. The manufacturer lists a three-year warranty subject to conditions, so consult the region-specific warranty booklet and manual before relying on specific coverage.
