One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchChoose Polaroid if you want a larger classic-format print and don’t mind waiting 10–15 minutes for color film to develop. Choose an analog Fujifilm Instax mini camera if you prefer smaller prints that develop in about 90 seconds. Those figures describe specific examples—Polaroid i-Type film and the Instax mini 13—not every camera in either brand’s lineup.
How do the print sizes compare?
The Polaroid i-Type print offers a substantially larger image area than an Instax mini print. Polaroid specifies a 79 × 79 mm image area inside a 107 × 88 mm sheet. Fujifilm specifies a 62 × 46 mm picture size for the Instax mini 13. These are the manufacturers’ respective image-area and picture-size measurements, so they are not identical measurement labels, but they show the practical difference: Polaroid’s example gives you more room for the image, while Instax mini prints are compact and easy to carry or display in smaller spaces.

Polaroid Go is a separate, smaller Polaroid format; don’t assume that every Polaroid camera produces i-Type-sized prints. Polaroid’s photo-dimensions guide and its Polaroid Go Generation 3 product page help distinguish formats.

For the cited color-film examples, Fujifilm says Instax mini 13 film develops in approximately 90 seconds, depending on ambient temperature. Polaroid lists 10–15 minutes for color i-Type film. If you want to see a print take shape quickly, Instax mini has the convenience advantage; if you choose i-Type, plan to protect the developing image and wait longer.

Which cameras and film are compatible?
Film format is a system choice, not a brand-wide interchangeable standard. The Polaroid Now+ Generation 3 bundle uses i-Type film, and Polaroid says its i-Type film is not compatible with vintage Polaroid cameras. Instax mini 13 uses Instax mini film. Fujifilm also sells distinct Instax SQUARE and WIDE film families, so check the exact camera’s format before buying film.
Use the Polaroid Now+ camera and film listing and Color i-Type film details to verify the Polaroid example. Fujifilm’s Instax camera lineup identifies its format families, while the Instax mini 13 North America manual covers that model’s requirements.

- Double-exposure and self-timer modes: Take photos so nice you shot them twice with double-exposure mode. Or set up the perfect self-portrait with the touch of the self timer button.
- Shoots pocketable Polaroid Go film and shoots 15 film packs with a single charge.
Do you want an analog or hybrid camera?
Fujifilm lists both analog and hybrid Instax products. An analog model is the more direct choice if you want the camera-and-film experience of taking a shot and receiving a physical print. Hybrid cameras add digital functions, so compare those features separately rather than treating every Instax camera as equivalent to an analog mini model. The mini 13 is an example of an analog Instax option, not a description of the entire Instax range.
What should you budget for film?
Film is a recurring cost, and prices vary by market and over time. Polaroid’s U.S. direct store listed one pack of Color i-Type film at $18.99 when accessed on October 7, 2026. That is a dated U.S. listing, not a universal or guaranteed current price. A matching current Instax mini price is not established here, so there is no sound basis for declaring one system cheaper.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which one should you choose?
- Choose a Polaroid i-Type camera such as the Now+ Generation 3 if a larger classic-format image matters more to you than quick development, and you’re comfortable with a 10–15-minute wait for color film.
- Choose an analog Instax mini camera such as the mini 13 if you want compact prints and development in about 90 seconds, with the stated timing depending on ambient temperature.
- Compare hybrid Instax models separately if digital functions are part of what you want; the analog-versus-hybrid distinction affects the shooting experience.
- Check the camera’s exact film format before buying if you’re considering vintage Polaroid gear, Polaroid Go, Instax SQUARE or Instax WIDE rather than the examples above.
These are manufacturer specifications and product listings, not a hands-on comparison of image quality. They establish print dimensions, development guidance and format compatibility for the cited examples, but do not establish which brand delivers more accurate color, better exposures or more reliable cameras.
