Pokémon Pokopia Version 2.0.0, released August 4, 2026, adds underwater movement and construction alongside a broad set of quality-of-life changes. You can dive and build houses underwater, move items between storage and your bag in bulk, craft using materials stored beside a workbench, and repeat several actions without restarting an interaction. Nintendo lists Version 2.0.1, released September 7, 2026, as the latest update as of October 13, 2026, so 2.0.0 is the feature update covered here—not the current version.
What Version 2.0.0 adds to exploration and building
Nintendo’s Version 2.0.0 notes describe its biggest new capability as underwater play. Use the new Dive move to travel underwater, and assign a Pokémon with the Build specialty to construct houses beneath the water. Strength can also be used underwater.

The update adds new items, including a portal pod and safe. Their recipes become available for purchase after Palette Town’s environment level increases. It also adds a dynamic Ditto print pattern: after acquiring the diploma, talk to Smearguru to obtain it.

Inventory, crafting, and repeat actions
Several changes reduce the number of separate interactions needed for routine tasks:
- Move items between the storage box and bag in bulk.
- When crafting at a workbench, materials in the storage box beside it are consumed before materials in the bag.
- Appraise up to 10 lost relics at once.
- Repeat Paint, Gather Honey, and Collect within a single interaction.
- Delete items placed inside objects such as a garbage bin.
When sucking up liquid, a short press of the move button lets Ditto hold the liquid in its mouth without removing it from the environment. Released water levels now automatically match nearby water.
Navigation and Pokémon interactions
If a Pokédex search finds a Pokémon in another town, you can travel there using Return Home. The update also adds an All tab to both the Pokédex and Habitat Dex, making it easier to browse their full entries.

Ordinary conversation indicators appear less prominently, helping special conversations and requests stand out. If a Pokémon’s habitat is destroyed, it will move back in when the same habitat is rebuilt within a certain area. Pokémon upset because furniture was removed notice sooner when that same furniture is replaced. Pokémon that taught Ditto an emote now respond with it when Ditto uses it.
Pokémon companions can follow while you use Surf, Glide, Rollout, or Magnet Rise. While rolling, you can inhale items and open the bag; Rollout can also destroy some natural objects, including large boulders. Surf can be activated on land by pressing the Surf button while holding the focus button. Nintendo also adjusted Surf and Waterfall activation to make it smoother.
More control over decorating and town presentation
Version 2.0.0 adds finer depth placement for windows, doors, and similar objects. The game also explains more clearly that buildings can still be remodeled when items are attached to their roofs or walls. A new option can hide the confirmation message shown when canceling Magnet Rise, and you can move while the move wheel is open.
Rank #3
- Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass
Ten kinds of objects became paintable: the stylish stool, handrail, metal chain, workbench, vending machine, bike, bookcase, Pokémon Center counter, arrow sign, and rope. Smearguru can learn patterns from photos in References, and paint balloons make the target item clearer.
The number of different photos you can display in a town increased from 10 to 40. The placement limit for power generators, excluding furnaces, rose from 64 to 128. Curved-eave crafting now produces 10, and Tidal Bell and Clear Bell can be activated by laser sensors and switches.
Camera options and other play adjustments
The update adds camera settings intended to reduce motion sickness. It also lets Pokémon not assigned to the Build role on a construction project help with cooking. Leafage can turn farm soil back into normal soil, and certain roofs now block water. Nintendo says event-notification timing was changed and that rendering processes were improved in some cases.
Rank #4
- Pokémon Pokopia Bundle (Game + Expansion Pass)
Dream Island treasure discoverable with the Dowsing Machine increased. Other small adjustments include changes to how paint balloons identify their targets and to the way Pokémon react in specific situations.
Bug fixes in 2.0.0
Alongside new features and convenience changes, Nintendo fixed a range of issues. The patch notes cover construction interactions, Pokémon movement and habitat behavior, Magnet Rise warnings, duckweed traversal, requests involving disliked items, berry processing, music timing, painting behavior and costs, furniture display, multiplayer building, relocation kits, and Dream Island loading or return behavior. They also address progression problems in several named quests, among other adjustments and fixes.
How to update and play online
Nintendo’s update history lists Version 2.0.0 as released August 4, 2026, on its English support page. The Pokémon Company’s Singapore notice is dated August 5, 2026; these are the dates shown on the respective regional pages. To update on Switch 2:
Best Value
- 3 complete Pokémon TCG decks (60 cards each)
- Each deck includes a powerful special Pokémon: Cinderace V, Pikachu V, or Eevee V
- Eevee deck includes 2 copies of an all-new promo card featuring Galarian Obstagoon
- 1 instruction sheet to help you set up to play
- 2 tutorial guides to lead you through the decks
- Connect the console to the internet.
- On the HOME Menu, highlight Pokémon Pokopia without launching it.
- Press the + or − button, then choose Software Update and Over the Internet.
Nintendo says the software update is required to use the game’s internet features. Online features require a Nintendo Switch Online membership, and everyone playing together must use the same software version.
What changed after Version 2.0.0
As of October 13, 2026, Nintendo’s update history lists Version 2.0.1, released September 7, as the latest update. Its fixes address cases where Ho-Oh and Lugia repeatedly descend and reappear, Pokédex search fails to find a Pokémon, a relocation kit cannot be picked up, sound effects repeat, the game freezes, or it remains on the loading screen. Nintendo also says it updated Brazil rating settings on October 1.
For context, Nintendo reported global cumulative sell-through of more than 4 million copies during Pokémon Pokopia’s first five weeks after its March 5, 2026 release for Nintendo Switch 2. That is a launch-period figure, not a current lifetime sales total.
