What is different between HeartGold and SoulSilver?
Nintendo presents both as enhanced versions of Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver, with the same broad Johto adventure. The main choice is the featured legendary and the Pokémon available through encounters in each version.

How to choose if you do not have a favorite
If you have no preference for Ho-Oh, Lugia, or version-exclusive Pokémon, treat the games as close alternatives. Pick the copy whose condition, completeness, and price you are comfortable with. Current resale prices, stock, and cartridge authenticity are not established by Nintendo’s product pages, so assess the specific listing rather than assuming one version is cheaper or easier to find.

What to check when buying a used copy
- Confirm what is included. The Pokéwalker was part of each game’s original package, but that does not mean a secondhand listing includes it. Check the listing contents and photographs.
- Check the exact hardware and feature you need. The SoulSilver manual identifies it as a Nintendo DS game and says its Dual Slot feature works only on Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite. Do not assume every feature will work on every DS-family system; consult the manual for the specific feature and hardware combination.
- Judge the individual copy. The available sources establish the games’ original packaging and compatibility, not the condition or authenticity of any current listing.
Are online features still available?
No. Nintendo UK states that Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for Nintendo DS/DSi and Wii software was discontinued on 20 May 2014. The service’s online play, matchmaking, competitions, and leaderboards are no longer available. Nintendo UK’s SoulSilver product page.
