POCO’s first tablet was real: a 2024 certification listing foreshadowed the POCO Pad, which launched globally on May 23, 2024. The original listing did not reveal its name, specifications or release date. By August 2026, the Pad had also grown into a broader POCO tablet lineup.
What the 2024 certification did—and did not—confirm
On March 16, 2024, a European Economic Community certification listing identified a device as “Tablet brand POCO model,” with model number 2405CPCFBG. It was evidence that a POCO-branded tablet was in the works, but the listing gave no retail name, specifications, price or launch date. Gizmochina’s report on the listing noted that it was the first appearance of a POCO-branded tablet on that platform.
Certification is not the same as a product announcement. It can point to regulatory preparations for a device, but it does not establish when—or even in which markets—it will be sold. Early speculation that the device might be based on the Xiaomi Pad 6s was unverified; the certification did not settle whether POCO would use new hardware or adapt a Xiaomi or Redmi design. Contemporaneous reporting floated that possibility rather than confirming it.
The rumor became the POCO Pad
POCO unveiled the POCO Pad, its first tablet sold under the POCO brand, globally on May 23, 2024, alongside the POCO F6 and POCO F6 Pro. That global introduction did not mean retail sales began everywhere on the same day; market-by-market releases followed. Notebookcheck’s launch coverage reported the global unveiling.

The Pad shares key hardware characteristics with the Redmi Pad Pro, including its general display, processor and battery platform. That places it within Xiaomi’s wider tablet ecosystem, but the available evidence does not establish that it is a one-for-one rebrand. The original certification alone certainly did not prove such a relationship.

What the hardware means for everyday use
Streaming, browsing and reading
The 12.1-inch, 16:10 LCD, high resolution and four speakers make the POCO Pad most naturally suited to video, web browsing and general media use. Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support add to that entertainment focus. Its 10,000mAh battery is substantial for a tablet of this class, though actual runtime depends on brightness, apps, connectivity and other usage.
POCO claims up to 16 hours of online video playback and 18 hours of reading. These are POCO Internal Labs figures, not independent measurements or guaranteed results for every user. The same qualification applies to manufacturer performance claims on the product page.

Gaming and productivity
The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is a midrange processor, not a current flagship tablet chip. It gives the device a more capable foundation than an entry-level tablet, but buyers seeking demanding professional workloads or laptop-replacement performance should not treat the Pad as a high-end workstation. Its USB 2.0 connection is also a constraint for users who frequently move large files over a cable.
POCO offers optional keyboard and pen accessories for users who want to type or take notes. HyperOS also provides interconnectivity features, including one-click hotspot and Xiaomi-device functions, but supported devices and feature rollouts can vary with region and software version.

Pen, keyboard and the real cost of adding them
The POCO Smart Pen is specified with 4,096 pressure levels, a 10g activation force and a claimed 12 hours of continuous writing. POCO also offers a dedicated POCO Pad Keyboard. The accessories are sold separately, and availability varies by market; check the official product page and local store for current compatibility and stock.
Budget for the complete setup rather than the tablet alone: a keyboard, pen, case, charger or microSD card can add to the cost, and no current official market listing establishes that accessories are bundled in every market. Do not assume that a pen or keyboard made for a Xiaomi Pad or Redmi Pad will work unless the manufacturer explicitly lists the POCO Pad as compatible.

Launch price and regional availability
Xiaomi Japan announced retail sales beginning June 24, 2024, at a market-estimated price of ¥44,800 including tax. That is a historical Japanese launch price, not a current global price or a U.S. MSRP. Xiaomi Japan’s announcement gives the local price and release date.
A current official U.S. price or U.S. retail availability is not established by the official sources cited here. POCO’s product materials also caution that configurations and availability differ by region. Buyers should confirm local sales, warranty coverage, accessories and configuration rather than extrapolate from Japan’s launch details.
How POCO’s tablet lineup changed by August 2026
The POCO Pad was the company’s first POCO-branded tablet, not Xiaomi Corporation’s first tablet. By August 18, 2026, it was no longer the only POCO tablet. The official product pages and regional announcements show a growing range:
| Model | What is established |
|---|---|
| POCO Pad | First POCO-branded tablet; 12.1-inch 2.5K 120Hz display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, 10,000mAh typical battery. POCO product page |
| POCO Pad M1 | Official page lists a 12.1-inch 2.5K 120Hz display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, 12,000mAh typical battery, 33W charging, up to 2TB expandable storage, four Dolby Atmos speakers and up to 27W wired reverse charging. | POCO Pad C1 | An official European Xiaomi store blog reported a 2026 launch aimed at on-the-go entertainment. Store announcement. Who should consider the original POCO Pad?
- Good fit: buyers prioritizing a large, high-resolution screen, media playback, expandable storage and a sizable battery in a midrange tablet.
- Less suitable: buyers who need built-in cellular service, a professional artist’s pen-and-display system, flagship processing power or a laptop replacement.
- Check before buying: local retail and warranty support, accessory availability, software features for your region, and the full cost of the configuration you need.
The POCO Pad answered the 2024 certification rumor with a real product and marked POCO’s entry into tablets. Its mix of screen, speakers and battery makes entertainment the clearest strength; its midrange processor, basic cameras, USB 2.0 and separately sold accessories set practical limits. The right choice depends on local pricing and what you expect to do with it—not on the old certification or a foreign launch price alone.
