1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe POCO X8 Pro Max is the better fit if you want the larger battery and the bigger screen. The POCO F9 Pro is the better fit if you want a dedicated 2.5x telephoto camera and the higher display refresh ceiling. Both specifications come from Xiaomi and POCO’s own published material, not from independent side-by-side tests, so treat the numbers as what the manufacturer claims. On price, the only storefront figures available here come from Xiaomi Spain, and they show a €470 gap in starting prices on the date that page was indexed. That gap does not apply to other countries.

The table below lists only the values that Xiaomi or POCO publish for each phone. Where a cell says “Not stated,” the cited manufacturer material for this comparison does not give that figure.

Battery and screen: the X8 Pro Max’s clearest advantages
The X8 Pro Max lists an 8500mAh typical battery. POCO’s launch material describes it with the phrase “2-day battery life.” That is a manufacturer claim based on internal data, and no independent endurance test is cited for it. The F9 Pro’s battery capacity is not stated in the Xiaomi material used for this comparison, so no battery-to-battery ranking is possible from the published specifications.
The X8 Pro Max also has the larger screen, at 6.83 inches against the F9 Pro’s 6.59 inches. The F9 Pro’s advantage on the display side is refresh rate: Xiaomi’s UK FAQ says its screen offers selectable refresh options up to 185Hz, while the X8 Pro Max is listed at 120Hz. A higher maximum refresh rate matters most in fast-scrolling and supported games. Whether a given app or game actually runs at that rate depends on the software and settings, and no matched test in the cited material measures it.

Cameras: a telephoto lens versus a higher-resolution main sensor
The F9 Pro’s camera listing is more specific. It pairs a 200MP main camera with a 50MP 2.5x floating telephoto lens and an 8MP ultrawide. Xiaomi’s official FAQ quotes the phrase “It features a 50MP 2.5x floating telephoto camera,” and no individual spokesperson is named. The X8 Pro Max’s listing in Xiaomi Indonesia’s specifications shows a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization and an 8MP ultrawide, alongside a dual-camera arrangement whose second lens is not described in the cited material.
Two practical points follow. First, if a dedicated 2.5x telephoto lens is part of your shooting habit, the F9 Pro is the only one of the two that lists one. Second, a higher megapixel count does not by itself produce better photos. Sensor size, processing, and low-light performance all affect the result, and none of the cited material includes independent camera comparisons.

Performance and gaming
The two phones use different chipsets. The X8 Pro Max uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s. The F9 Pro uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V series processor (SM8850-1-AB), and Xiaomi says it includes a dedicated graphics chip for gaming. Xiaomi’s material does not provide sustained frame-rate or thermal results, so the cited sources cannot say which phone holds higher performance under long gaming sessions.

POCO says it used AnTuTu V11.0.5 at around 25°C and warns that results can vary with test conditions. This is a company-reported figure. It cannot be compared directly with independent benchmarks, and no AnTuTu score for the F9 Pro is cited.

Price difference: a Spain-specific snapshot
Xiaomi Spain’s storefront, as indexed at the time of the snapshot, listed the POCO X8 Pro Max from €429.99 and the POCO F9 Pro from €899.99. That is a €470 difference in starting prices. Model configurations may differ on that page, and the snapshot does not show what each price included.
The F9 Pro also had a limited promotion in Spain. For the September 1–21, 2026 campaign, the 12GB + 256GB model showed a reference price of €899.99 and a promotional price of €739.99. The 12GB + 512GB model showed €999.99 and €799.99. That promotion has ended as of this article’s date, so these figures are historical campaign terms rather than a current offer.

Prices vary by country, storage configuration, seller, stock, and promotion. The Spain figures do not establish a global price gap. Before you compare, check the live price in your own country for the same RAM and storage configuration, and confirm the seller, warranty, and whether a charger is included.

- Choose the X8 Pro Max if battery capacity and screen size are your main priorities, and you want the lower starting price in the Spain storefront.
- Choose the F9 Pro if you use a telephoto lens regularly, want the higher maximum display refresh rate, or want the chipset and graphics configuration Xiaomi markets for gaming.
- Do not decide on megapixels or the price gap alone. Compare the same storage configuration in your own market, and check independent reviews for camera and battery results before buying.
The published specifications support clear trade-offs, but not a universal winner. The X8 Pro Max’s battery and screen size are its clearest advantages on paper, and the F9 Pro’s telephoto camera, higher maximum refresh rate, and gaming-oriented chipset are its listed strengths.
