The POCO M8 5G and Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 SE 5G share most of their headline hardware: both list a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip, a 6.77-inch 120Hz display, 50MP main and 2MP depth rear cameras, a 20MP front camera, and 45W charging. The practical differences are Redmi’s larger rated battery and POCO’s stated IP66 resistance and wired reverse charging. A price snapshot showed POCO lower, but its storage variants were unclear, so it is not a reliable like-for-like price verdict.

POCO M8 vs Redmi Note 15 SE 5G: key specifications

Feature POCO M8 5G Redmi Note 15 SE 5G What it means
Chipset Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, 4nm The listed platform is the same; these specifications do not establish a performance winner.
Display 6.77-inch Flow AMOLED, 2392 × 1080, up to 120Hz; 3,200-nit peak brightness 6.77-inch curved AMOLED, 2392 × 1080, up to 120Hz; 3,200-nit peak brightness Headline size, resolution, refresh rate and peak brightness match. Brightness is a manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement.
Rear cameras 50MP Light Fusion 400 main and 2MP depth; 4K/30 video 50MP Light Fusion 400 main and 2MP depth; 4K/30 video Listed camera hardware and video capability match; comparative camera testing is not established.

Battery and charging 5,520mAh typical; 45W charging; up to 18W wired reverse charging 5,800mAh typical; 45W charging; charger stated to be in the box Redmi’s rated capacity is 280mAh larger. Capacity alone does not establish longer real-world battery life.
Durability IP66 stated on POCO’s global specifications page Xiaomi cites Diamond Structure Protection and drop claims; no immersion rating is established here POCO has the clearer stated dust-and-water resistance rating, subject to its test conditions.
SIM and storage expansion Hybrid nano-SIM/microSD slot; expansion up to 1TB Hybrid nano-SIM/microSD slot; expansion up to 1TB On either phone, using microSD occupies the hybrid slot and affects the second-SIM option.
Software listed Xiaomi HyperOS 2 Xiaomi HyperOS; version should be checked on the regional product page The available specifications do not establish a software-support-duration advantage.

How their performance and displays compare

Both official product pages list the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, so the core chipset specification does not separate the phones. The same is true of their headline screen figures: each is listed with a 6.77-inch 2392 × 1080 display, refresh rates up to 120Hz and peak brightness of 3,200 nits. POCO calls its panel Flow AMOLED, while Xiaomi describes the Redmi panel as curved AMOLED. Those names describe the manufacturers’ respective display presentations; the listed figures alone do not show which screen looks better in use.

Battery, charging and durability differences

Redmi has the larger rated battery

Xiaomi lists the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G at 5,800mAh typical, compared with POCO’s 5,520mAh typical. That is a 280mAh capacity difference, not a measured runtime result. No independent battery comparison is established here, so screen time or days of use cannot be inferred from those capacities alone. Xiaomi also states that a 45W charger is included with the Redmi.

POCO adds reverse charging and an IP rating

POCO lists 45W charging and up to 18W wired reverse charging, which can be useful if you want the phone to supply power to another device. Its global product specifications also state IP66 dust and water resistance. IP66 is based on specified test conditions; it does not mean the phone is safe to submerge, and resistance can diminish with wear. POCO advises against immersion.

Xiaomi’s product page describes Diamond Structure Protection and drop-related claims for the Redmi. Those claims are not equivalent to an IP immersion rating, so they should not be treated as evidence that the Redmi has the same water protection as the POCO.

Camera hardware and storage

The published camera specifications are closely matched: each phone lists a 50MP Light Fusion 400 main camera, a 2MP depth camera, a 20MP front camera and 4K recording at 30 frames per second. Resolution and camera count do not establish photo or video quality; there is no comparative camera test here to identify a winner.

Both models list a hybrid nano-SIM/microSD slot and microSD expansion up to 1TB. Because the slot is hybrid, adding a memory card may mean giving up the second nano-SIM position. Check the exact regional SKU and tray configuration before buying.

Price difference: check matching variants before deciding

A 91mobiles Amazon India comparison page displayed ₹23,879 for the POCO M8 and ₹24,855 for the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G, a ₹976 difference in POCO’s favor on that page. It is a marketplace snapshot accessed in 2026, not a guaranteed current checkout price, and the storage configurations behind the displayed prices were unclear. It cannot establish which phone is cheaper for an equivalent SKU.

Xiaomi India’s store search result showed the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G from ₹25,999, but the opened store page did not expose a readable price. Treat that as an official listing signal rather than a verified checkout quote. POCO’s global specifications list 8GB+256GB and 8GB+512GB configurations, but regional retail availability and the exact India SKU should be confirmed rather than assumed.

  1. Identify the RAM and storage configuration you want for each phone.
  2. Compare the same configuration, where available, from the same seller or equivalent sellers.
  3. Check the final checkout price, including current offers, delivery charges and seller terms.

Which phone should you choose?

  • Choose the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G if its larger stated battery capacity matters to you, or you specifically want Xiaomi India’s stated in-box 45W charger. The capacity difference is not proof of longer battery life.
  • Choose the POCO M8 5G if IP66 resistance or wired reverse charging is useful to you. Read the regional specifications and use the device within the rating’s limits; do not treat IP66 as permission to submerge it.
  • Choose by price only after verifying the same RAM/storage tier, seller and offer terms at checkout. The displayed ₹976 gap does not confirm a like-for-like deal.

For buyers without a specific preference among those differences, the listed chipset, display dimensions and resolution, refresh-rate class, and camera resolutions are alike. The more useful decision points are therefore the exact local SKU and price, rated battery capacity, and whether POCO’s stated resistance or reverse charging suits your needs.
