The PocketBook Verta Color is a compact 6-inch e-reader with a color E Ink touchscreen and an IPX4 splash-resistance rating. PocketBook announced it on October 5, 2026, with availability planned for November. Its color screen is listed at 150 PPI, compared with 300 PPI in grayscale, and the German store currently lists it at €179 while marking it as upcoming and out of stock.
What is the PocketBook Verta Color?
Verta Color is the color-screen version of PocketBook’s new Verta pair, announced as compact successors to the Verse models. It uses a 6-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 touchscreen. The standard Verta instead has a 6-inch grayscale E Ink Carta 1300 display. PocketBook said the models would first be presented at the upcoming Frankfurt Book Fair. Notebookcheck’s October 5, 2026 report also identifies them as Verse successors.

What does the color display trade off?
PocketBook lists Verta Color at 300 PPI for grayscale content and 150 PPI in color, with 4,096 colors. In practical terms, the published specifications distinguish sharper grayscale rendering from lower-density color rendering. That gives the device a color option for covers, illustrations and comics, while readers prioritizing grayscale text density may prefer the standard Verta. These are listed specifications, not a hands-on assessment of image quality. PocketBook’s German Verta Color listing provides the display figures.

Is the PocketBook Verta Color waterproof?
No immersion protection is established: PocketBook rates it IPX4 and describes that rating as protection against splashes. Treat it as splash-resistant, not waterproof; do not submerge it. Readers who need protection against immersion should choose a device with a rating that explicitly covers that use.

Size, battery and connectivity
PocketBook lists both readers at 140 g. Notebookcheck reports dimensions of 154 × 107.5 × 7 mm, plus 1 GB RAM, 16 GB storage, USB-C, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and PocketBook OS, which is Linux-based. It also reports a 1,500 mAh battery. PocketBook advertises up to two months of battery life, but that is a manufacturer estimate whose actual result depends on use—not an independently tested runtime. It also says Onleihe and PocketBook x Libby by OverDrive apps are preinstalled for borrowing from participating public libraries. That does not mean every library or country is supported; check local library service availability. Details appear in PocketBook’s October 5, 2026 announcement.
Release date and price
PocketBook’s October 5, 2026 announcement planned availability from November 2026 at €169 for Verta and €179 for Verta Color. The manufacturer’s German product pages currently show those prices but mark both devices “Nicht auf Lager” (not in stock) and “NEU – bald erhältlich” (new—available soon). That describes the German store’s listing status; it does not establish availability in every market. Check the local store for current release timing and price. The announcement also says interchangeable colored backs will be sold separately, but does not establish their prices or exact compatibility details. The announcement gives the planned launch and accessory information.
