Its courses, learning paths, assessments and hands-on labs suit people building technical skills; alternatives may fit better if you want university-backed credentials, a broad business course catalog, books and live events, or focused IT certification preparation. Compare platforms by the skill you need, how you learn and the credential or practice you expect—not by a universal winner.
What Pluralsight offers
Pluralsight centers on technology skills, with current subject areas including AI, cloud, security, software development, data and IT operations. Its individual plans include video courses, learning paths, assessments and labs, although access to specific features depends on the plan. Its official product page lists 6,500+ courses and 3,500+ hands-on labs with the Complete plan, and says about 5.5% of instructor applicants are accepted; those are Pluralsight’s own figures, not independently audited counts. Check Pluralsight’s current individual plans and included features.

That combination is useful when you want a guided route through a technical subject and a way to practice or assess what you have learned. Whether it is the right service depends on what you are learning: an IT certification, a data-analysis tool, a broad professional skill or a formal credential can point toward different platforms.

How the main alternatives compare
The table summarizes the services by the kind of learning they emphasize. Catalog totals below come from O’Reilly’s June 2026 comparison, not independent audits; counts can change and are not necessarily measured on a like-for-like basis. Its figures are best treated as rough snapshots rather than proof of catalog quality or fit.

| Platform | Best reason to consider it | Format or emphasis described in the comparison | Catalog count reported by O’Reilly in June 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pluralsight | Structured technical learning with paths, assessments and labs | Video courses, learning paths, assessments and hands-on labs; Pluralsight’s own plan page describes its offerings | 6,500+ courses |
| O’Reilly Learning | Technical books alongside video and other learning formats | Books, videos, labs and live events, according to O’Reilly’s comparison | Not reported consistently: the article says 75,000+ titles in its overview and 65,000+ in its table |
| Udemy Business | Teams comparing a broad business course catalog | O’Reilly characterizes it as a self-published marketplace model; that description applies to the business offering in this comparison, not necessarily every Udemy course | 30,000+ courses |
| LinkedIn Learning | Technology learning alongside creative and professional-development subjects | O’Reilly describes its catalog as broader than specialist engineering | 24,000+ courses |
| Coursera | University-backed learning or formal credentials | O’Reilly distinguishes it from just-in-time skills training | 10,000+ courses |
| CBT Nuggets | IT certification preparation | O’Reilly describes a focus on IT certification preparation | 1,000+ courses |
These descriptions and totals are from a vendor-authored comparison, so they should be read as O’Reilly’s account rather than independent testing. O’Reilly’s own count is internally inconsistent in that article; check its current service directly if catalog size matters to your choice. The figures also do not establish how many courses are current, relevant to your level or available under a particular plan. See O’Reilly’s comparison.
Which alternative fits your goal?
Choose O’Reilly Learning for books plus video
Consider O’Reilly if you want technical books as well as video courses, labs and live events. That combination can suit learners who prefer to read deeply and then supplement with demonstrations or practice. O’Reilly’s description of its own service is not an independent comparison of teaching quality or coverage.
Choose Udemy Business for team catalog breadth
Udemy Business belongs on a team’s shortlist when it is comparing a broad course catalog and business purchasing. O’Reilly describes the model as self-published; treat that as a characterization of the business offering in its comparison, not a claim about every Udemy course or instructor.
Choose LinkedIn Learning for technology plus professional skills
LinkedIn Learning may suit someone who wants technology content together with creative and professional-development subjects. O’Reilly characterizes its catalog as broader than specialist engineering, so a learner seeking depth in a narrow technical discipline should check the specific courses and learning sequence available before subscribing.
Rank #3
Choose Coursera for university-backed study or credentials
Coursera is worth comparing when a formal credential or university-backed learning matters. O’Reilly contrasts that model with just-in-time skills training; confirm the exact course, credential, prerequisites and costs directly with Coursera, since not every course necessarily offers the same kind of outcome.
Choose CBT Nuggets for IT certification preparation
Consider CBT Nuggets when preparing for an IT certification is the main objective. Its certification-oriented focus, as described by O’Reilly, makes it a more direct candidate for that goal than a broad learning platform, but check that it covers your specific exam and current exam objectives.

- 320-page workbook is divided into sections covering Phonics, Reading Skills & Parts of Speech; Math Basics; Time, Money & Fractions; and Story Problems
Consider focused platforms for a narrower technical subject
- KodeKloud: G2’s description points to hands-on DevOps and automation learning, including Kubernetes, Docker and Ansible.
- DataCamp: G2 describes a focus on data science, analytics and business intelligence tools.
- INE: G2 describes network and IT training and reports more than 15,000 training videos. Verify the current figure and subject coverage with INE before relying on it.
- QA and Udacity: G2 lists both as alternatives, but that listing alone does not establish which learner or goal either suits. Compare their current offerings against your particular course or outcome.
G2 is a review marketplace, not a definitive independent ranking. Its alternatives list can help generate candidates, but placement there does not establish that a service is better than Pluralsight or right for a given learner. Browse G2’s Pluralsight alternatives listing.
A practical way to choose
- Name the outcome. Decide whether you need to learn a technical skill, prepare for an exam, build a portfolio or earn a formal credential. A service that teaches a topic is not automatically a route to a recognized credential.
- Check the actual subject and level. Search for the tool, technology, exam or role you have in mind. Review course dates, prerequisites, sequence and instructor information rather than relying only on the platform’s overall catalog size.
- Match the format to how you learn. Compare video, books, guided paths, assessments, live events and hands-on labs. If practice is essential, check whether the relevant plan includes the labs or projects you intend to use.
- For teams, check purchasing and administration needs. Confirm the business plan’s current terms and features with the provider; an individual subscription and a team offering may differ in access, management and cost.
- Compare the total current cost. Check the live vendor page for your country, currency, billing interval, plan and number of learners. A comparison article’s approximate team prices are not a reliable substitute for a current, like-for-like quote.
- Use a trial to test the real learning workflow. Confirm its duration, restrictions and renewal terms before starting. Pluralsight currently presents a 10-day individual trial, but its FAQ says the trial does not include full access to labs and sandbox features. Trial terms and displayed prices can change.
Prices and trial terms need a live check
Pluralsight’s pricing page is dynamic, and the available price can depend on geography, currency, billing interval, plan and promotion. A promotion visible in a captured 2026 page ran only from June 19 to July 6, 2026, so it should not be treated as current. O’Reilly’s June 2026 comparison gives approximate team prices for some competitors, not a consistent set of current individual subscription prices. Use each provider’s own checkout or pricing page for the terms that apply to you.
