#1 Best Overall
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
How much do the plans cost in the US?
These are the prices shown on PlayStation’s US plans page at the time of research. They are not a guarantee of current or regional pricing; check the price displayed for your account before purchasing.
| Plan | 1 month | 3 months | 12 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $10.99 | $27.99 | $79.99 |
| Extra | $16.99 | $43.99 | $134.99 |
| Premium | $19.99 | $54.99 | $159.99 |
At those listed US prices, 12 separate monthly payments would total $131.88 for Essential, $203.88 for Extra and $239.88 for Premium. Compared with those calculations, the listed 12-month prices are lower by $51.89, $68.89 and $79.89, respectively. These are arithmetic comparisons, not separate Sony savings claims; they assume the listed monthly and annual prices remain unchanged and exclude promotions.

- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.

Which plan should you choose?
Choose Essential for core membership features
Essential fits if you mainly need online multiplayer, want the monthly games, or use cloud saves, Share Play and member discounts. It avoids paying for the Game Catalog, Classics Catalog, trials or streaming when those additions are not part of your plans.
Recommended Free Tools
Choose Extra if you will play from the Game Catalog
Extra is the middle tier for players who expect to try several games in the changing Game Catalog, including Ubisoft+ Classics. Before subscribing, compare the current catalog with the specific games you want. Sony says PS4 games will be added only intermittently from January 2026, so do not assume a steady stream of new PS4 additions.
Rank #3
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
If one particular game is the reason you are considering Extra, verify that it is currently included and whether it is due to leave. Catalog availability changes, and subscription access is not the same as owning a game.
Choose Premium for its specific extras
Premium adds the Classics Catalog, game trials and cloud streaming, as well as the Sony Pictures Catalog benefit listed on Sony’s US page. It is the right tier when one or more of those additions matter enough to justify the higher price. If you only want the Game Catalog, Extra already includes it.
Rank #4
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
What to know about cloud streaming
PlayStation Plus is available on PS4 and PS5. Sony also describes Premium cloud streaming on PC in its getting-started guide. Sony lists a minimum internet speed of 5 Mbps for cloud streaming and 15 Mbps for 1080p. Streaming availability depends on territory and supported devices; PlayStation’s plan page notes that cloud streaming excludes overseas territories. Check local availability and device requirements before choosing Premium for this feature.
