In the original Planet Coaster on PC, press U to raise the next path section or J to lower it. For finer control, hold Shift and press an arrow key; press Shift alone to reset the height to zero. These shortcuts come from community-maintained guides, and may differ if you have changed your key bindings.
Raise or lower a path as you draw
- Open the path tool and start drawing where the elevated section should begin.
- Press U to raise the next section, or J to lower it.
- For smaller height adjustments, use Shift + Up Arrow or Shift + Down Arrow. Press Shift by itself to reset the height to zero.
A community path guide also describes holding the left mouse button and moving the attached path preview back onto itself to raise it. Pulling the cursor away from the existing path while holding the button can lower the next section, provided terrain or objects do not block placement. What to check if the path will not place
Watch the placement preview as you draw. The community path guide says a red preview indicates an obstruction in the immediate area. Move the preview or adjust the route to clear the obstruction, then try placing the section again. Planet Coaster Wiki: Paths

Check the game and control scheme
These instructions are for the original Planet Coaster on PC; they do not establish controls for console versions or customized bindings. Frontier’s located help-centre page covers Planet Coaster 2, not the original game’s path shortcuts, so do not assume the sequel uses the same inputs.
