The Pixel 10a is the better fit if you want a larger, up-to-120Hz display and a rear ultrawide camera. The iPhone 17e is smaller and lighter, has Apple’s A19 chip, and starts with twice the storage. At reported US launch prices, the iPhone cost $100 more—but those prices compare different storage capacities, and they are not current retail quotes.

How much more did the iPhone 17e cost?
In the US launch-price comparison reported by TechRadar, the iPhone 17e was $100 more: $599 versus $499 for the Pixel 10a. Display: larger and smoother on the Pixel
The Pixel 10a has a 6.3-inch display that can refresh from 60 to 120Hz. That higher refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations look smoother. The iPhone 17e has a smaller 6.1-inch display; TechRadar reports it at 60Hz. Choose the Pixel if screen size and smoothness matter more than a compact handset.
Google lists peak brightness up to 3,000 nits for the Pixel, while Apple lists peak HDR brightness of 1,200 nits for the iPhone. These are each manufacturer’s stated figures, under different conditions; they should not be read as a controlled comparison of real-world brightness.

Size and handling: the iPhone is more compact
In the cited dimensions, the iPhone 17e is shorter, narrower and thinner than the Pixel 10a, and weighs 14g less. That makes it the more compact option on paper, which may suit one-handed use or smaller pockets. The Pixel’s larger body accommodates its larger display, but the specifications alone do not determine which phone feels more comfortable in your hand.

The Pixel 10a has two rear cameras: a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide. An ultrawide gives you a distinct wider framing option for scenes such as architecture or group shots when you cannot step farther back.

TechRadar describes the iPhone 17e as having a single 48MP rear-camera system with a 2x crop option. That offers a different way to frame a shot, but it is not a separate ultrawide camera. Camera count or megapixel figures alone do not establish which phone takes better photos; the cited material does not provide a controlled image-quality comparison.
Battery and performance: avoid an unsupported head-to-head verdict
Google lists a typical 5,100mAh battery and claims 30-plus hours of battery life under conditions described in its specification footnotes. That is a manufacturer claim, not a directly comparable third-party result for both phones.
Tom’s Guide reports that the Pixel 10a lasted 15 hours and 16 minutes in its web-browsing battery test. That is one outlet’s result under its own test method, not a same-method comparison with the iPhone 17e. The same outlet reports 13 hours and 8 minutes for the Pixel 9a in its comparison, a predecessor result rather than evidence about the iPhone. Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Pixel 10a if you value
- A larger display with a refresh rate up to 120Hz.
- A rear ultrawide camera for wider framing.
- A lower reported US launch price, provided its 128GB base storage meets your needs.
Choose the iPhone 17e if you value
- A smaller, lighter phone.
- Apple’s A19 chip or using the Apple ecosystem.
- 256GB of base storage without stepping up from a 128GB configuration.
For a value decision, first compare current local prices at the storage capacity you need; then weigh display, size, camera framing and ecosystem preference. The specifications support a needs-based choice, not a blanket claim that one phone is better for everyone.
