On iPhone, go to Settings > Accessibility > Zoom. On Android, look for Settings > Accessibility > Magnification. Samsung Galaxy phones also have a persistent Screen zoom control under Display.
Choose between larger text, a larger interface, and magnification
These settings solve different problems. Start with the least disruptive option that makes the screen comfortable to read:

- Font size: Use this when text is too small but buttons and other interface elements are already comfortable.
- Display size or Screen zoom: Use this when you want interface items as well as text to appear larger. The change stays in effect until you adjust it.
- Zoom or Magnification: Use this to temporarily enlarge part or all of the screen, for example to inspect small text or a detail without changing the overall layout.
Menu names and available controls vary by phone maker, model, and operating-system version. On Android, if a path below does not match your phone, search Settings for “Magnification” or consult the manufacturer’s accessibility instructions.
Enlarge the screen on an iPhone
Turn on Zoom
- Open Settings > Accessibility > Zoom.
- Turn on Zoom.
- Choose Full Screen Zoom to enlarge the whole display or Window Zoom to enlarge a resizable area while leaving the surrounding screen at its normal size.
For quicker access, open Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut and add Zoom. You can toggle Zoom by double-tapping the screen with three fingers or by using the shortcut you selected. While zoomed, drag with three fingers to move around the display.

Adjust the magnification
Double-tap with three fingers and drag up or down to change magnification. You can also triple-tap with three fingers to open the Zoom controls and adjust the Zoom Level slider. Options such as Follow Focus, Smart Typing, Zoom Controller, filters, and the maximum zoom level may be available; the exact controls depend on the iPhone and system version. Turn on Magnification on Android
Set a magnification shortcut
- Open Settings > Accessibility > Magnification.
- Turn on Magnification and choose an available shortcut, such as the accessibility button, holding both volume keys, or triple-tapping the screen.
- Use the shortcut to magnify; use it again to turn magnification off.
Shortcut options and menu paths vary by Android version and device. If you cannot find Magnification, search Settings for that term. Google’s Magnification guide documents the setup and available gestures. Google says Android magnification can reach up to 8×; the support page does not state a publication year for that figure.

Move and resize the magnified view
- Full-screen magnification: Drag with two fingers to move around. Pinch with two fingers to change the zoom level.
- Partial-screen magnification: Use two fingers to move the magnification window and pinch with two fingers to adjust its zoom.
Some options depend on Android version: Google notes that a magnifier settings panel is available on Android 14 and later, while keyboard magnification is available on Android 16. Its guidance also warns that opening or closing an app while zoomed may turn magnification off, depending on settings. Triple-tap can make taps feel slightly slower because the phone waits to determine whether a tap is part of the gesture. If that is inconvenient, choose another shortcut available on your device.
Make a Samsung Galaxy screen stay larger
Adjust Screen zoom
For a lasting increase in the size of interface elements, open Settings > Display > Screen zoom and adjust the slider. On a Galaxy Z Fold, Samsung uses the menu name Screen layout and zoom. The setting is separate from temporary magnification. Samsung’s Galaxy display settings guide describes the display controls.

Use Magnification for a temporary close-up
Galaxy phones also provide Magnification in Accessibility settings. The exact submenu can differ by model and software, so search Settings for “Magnification” if it is not where expected. Samsung’s display guide covers Screen zoom; Google’s Android magnification instructions explain the general magnification gestures.
Screen magnification is not the same as a camera magnifier
Android’s screen magnification enlarges the phone’s interface. A camera magnifier instead uses the camera to view real-world objects. Google says its Magnifier app is available for Pixel 5 and later and must be downloaded from Google Play; that app is for camera-based viewing, not for enlarging interface content. Google’s Android accessibility overview describes the distinction and availability.

When the steps do not match your phone
- Search Settings for Magnification, Zoom, Screen zoom, or font size; manufacturers may organize display and accessibility controls differently.
- Check your phone’s software version. Google notes that some Magnification controls are limited to newer Android releases.
- If a gesture is awkward or unavailable, select a different shortcut offered in the accessibility settings, such as the accessibility button or volume keys.
- For Samsung devices, use Samsung’s model-specific support information because menu labels can differ across models and software.
Google’s Android accessibility overview notes that manufacturers may organize display settings differently.
