1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor a new Windows phone connection in 2026, use Microsoft Phone Link. Intel ended Unison support on January 1, 2026, and says the app and drivers are no longer available to download. If Unison is already installed, it may still operate, but Intel no longer supports it and does not promise continued operation or updates. Intel’s stated exception is for Lenovo Aura Edition owners, whom it directs to Lenovo Smart Connect.
Why Phone Link is the practical choice in 2026
Intel says, “Intel Unison has reached its end of support as of January 1, 2026.” As of that date, Intel also stopped offering the product and drivers for download and stopped responding to Unison inquiries through its customer support channels. Intel’s discontinuation notice does not say that every installed copy was remotely disabled or stopped working on that date. Existing installations should therefore be treated as unsupported, with future operation uncertain.

Phone Link is Microsoft’s documented option for connecting supported Android phones and iPhones to a Windows PC. Its exact capabilities depend on the phone, PC, region, software and permissions, so it is not a like-for-like replacement for every Unison feature.

What Phone Link can do—and what varies
Phone Link connects selected phone functions to Windows rather than mirroring every feature of a phone. Depending on the phone and permissions, Microsoft lists messages, recent photos, notifications and calls; selected Android configurations can also provide access to mobile apps. Microsoft’s Phone Link requirements and setup page explains the supported functions and setup.

Android
Android can offer a broader set of Phone Link experiences, including recent photos and, on some supported configurations, mobile apps. App access is not a standard feature on every Android phone: Microsoft limits it to select models, regions and software configurations. Use its supported-device list to check whether a particular experience is available for your phone.
iPhone
Microsoft’s iPhone description focuses on messages, calls and notifications. Do not assume an iPhone receives the same integration as an Android phone, particularly for photos or app experiences.

- Multitasking is easy with 16GB of RAM
- Equipped with a blazing fast Core i5 2.00 GHz processor.
Check requirements before pairing
Microsoft’s requirements page lists Windows 10 with specified updates or Windows 11, Android 10 or later, and iOS 16 or later. The iPhone route also requires Bluetooth Low Energy support on the PC. Requirements and eligible devices can change, so check Microsoft’s live page before setup.

- For Android: Install or open Link to Windows on the phone, unless it is integrated into a supported phone, then follow the Phone Link setup flow.
- For iPhone: Keep the phone near the PC and enable Bluetooth on both during pairing.
- For PC calls: Bluetooth must be available and enabled on both the phone and PC. If the PC lacks Bluetooth, a USB Bluetooth adapter is a possible way to add it; check the PC’s existing hardware before buying one. See Microsoft’s calling instructions.
- For accounts and profiles: Microsoft says Phone Link does not support work or school accounts; its Android requirements also state that multiple Android profiles are unsupported.
Review permissions before syncing
Phone Link lets you enable or disable categories of phone information. If you grant message access, message content can appear in Phone Link on the PC; Microsoft specifically warns that this may include sensitive texts such as two-factor authentication codes. Grant only the permissions you want, and turn off a feature in Phone Link to stop syncing that category.

What changed when Intel Unison ended
Intel’s older materials describe Unison as pairing approved Windows PC configurations with Android or iOS phones and tablets. Its historical environment information lists Windows 11, Android 12 or later and iOS 17 or later, as well as internet connectivity and Bluetooth. Those are historical requirements, not a current download or compatibility promise; Intel’s later discontinuation notice governs availability.
Unison’s older call setup instructions also specified Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile support and cautioned that calls would not work while a Bluetooth headset was connected to the PC. That detail may help explain an old setup, but it is not a reason to install or choose Unison now.
Lenovo Aura Edition owners
Intel specifically points Lenovo Aura Edition owners toward Lenovo Smart Connect in its discontinuation notice. That direction is narrower than a general recommendation for all Lenovo PCs or all former Unison users; consult Lenovo’s information for the exact Aura Edition device and current availability.
