Philips markets the Series 5000 DE5205 as a combined appliance for removing moisture and filtering particles. The listed modes are automatic, laundry-dry, continuous-dry and purifier-only. Depending on the regional variant, specifications also include a humidity setting or numerical humidity feedback, an air-quality indicator ring, a prefilter, child lock, timer and wheels. Capacity depends on the suffix and test conditions
Check the full model number on the appliance or listing before comparing extraction rates. Philips publishes different figures for different variants, and the warmer, more humid test conditions produce a higher rating.

Air filtration: useful specifications, not a room-wide guarantee
Philips lists a particle clean air delivery rate (CADR) of 270 m³/h for the DE5205/30 and DE5205/39. The DE5205/39 specification also states purification room size up to 70 m² under NRCC, filtration down to 0.02 microns, and 99.9% filtration claims for viruses/aerosols and bacteria. These are Philips claims tied to its stated laboratory context; they should not be read as proof of infection prevention or guaranteed air quality throughout a particular room. Tank size, power and upkeep
The cited DE5205/30 and /39 specifications list a 4 L water tank and maximum power consumption of 355 W. Maximum power is not the same as typical or annual energy consumption; the cited specifications do not establish a real-world energy-use figure.

Philips names FY1119 as the replacement HEPA filter for the cited variants and recommends replacement up to every 12 months. Treat that as manufacturer guidance, not a guaranteed filter lifespan. Which DE5205 variant should you buy?
The suffix is important: regional versions have different published ratings and electrical details. For example, Philips lists the DE5205/10 at 220 V, 50 Hz, 355 W, with a 4 L tank, a 1.6 m cord and a 12.7 L/day extraction rate. The DE5205/39 specification lists a 1.8 m cord and provides extraction rates for two temperature and humidity conditions. Those differences make it risky to assume that a retailer listing, filter or specification for one suffix applies to another.

- Philips lists a two-year guarantee in the cited specification PDFs; coverage is market-specific, so consult the terms that apply where you live.

The DE5205 combines moisture removal with particle filtration and includes a purifier-only mode, making it a plausible option for someone who wants both functions in one appliance. The evidence available here is manufacturer documentation; it does not establish independent noise measurements, observed extraction in a home, comparative energy use or performance against competing models. If those factors drive your decision, look for independent tests that compare units at the same humidity and temperature, report measured noise and power use, and identify the exact regional suffix. Philips’ published ratings are most useful when treated as condition-specific specifications rather than as a complete prediction of household performance.
