If a PhantomJS screenshot stops at a fixed boundary, first check page.clipRect: it limits the portion included in the capture. For a whole-page attempt, remove an unintended clip rectangle, set page.viewportSize before opening the page, and render only after the content you need has appeared. These settings have different jobs, and neither guarantees that every site’s dynamically loaded content will be captured.
Why a PhantomJS screenshot gets cut off
Two settings are easy to confuse:
page.viewportSizesets the headless browser’s viewport dimensions, which affect page layout. Set both width and height before navigating.page.clipRectselects the rectangular portion of the page to include in the screenshot. A fixed rectangle can constrain the output, even if the page continues below or beyond it.
The official PhantomJS capture guide demonstrates a 1024-by-768 clipRect as the screenshot region; that is an example configuration, not a recommended universal size. See the PhantomJS screen-capture guide and the viewportSize API documentation.

Remove an unintended clip rectangle and render after loading
Use this diagnostic sketch to check whether clipping is the cause. It is based on the documented API pattern and is not a tested script. Replace the example URL with your page. Do not assign page.clipRect while diagnosing an unintended crop; keep it only when you deliberately want a bounded capture.

page.clipRectif it is cropping the desired region. - Wait for relevant asynchronous content before calling
page.render. The 200-millisecond wait in the example is illustrative, not a reliable universal delay.
PhantomJS’s examples show that render timing can matter, but a short delay may not be enough for a particular page. Inspect the rendered result and the page’s behavior rather than assuming that initial document load means every script, image, or other late content is ready. The available PhantomJS documentation does not establish a universal full-page lazy-loading procedure; a fixed wait also may not trigger content that loads only when scrolled into view.

Choose the right output settings

If the output is a PDF with the wrong page dimensions, inspect paperSize; changing the image capture rectangle is not the same operation. The API supports explicit dimensions or paper formats such as A4 and Letter, with optional orientation and margins.
Troubleshoot the remaining crop
The image ends at the same fixed edge every time
Search the script for page.clipRect. Remove it temporarily or increase its width and height to include the wanted region. If you intentionally need only one region, keep the rectangle and set its bounds to that region.

The page layout itself looks wrong
Check page.viewportSize and assign both dimensions before navigation. It controls the layout viewport, not the selected screenshot crop.

Content below the initial view is missing
Confirm that the page has completed the work needed to create that content before rendering. A delay can help with asynchronous activity, but the official examples’ short wait is not a promise that a real site will finish in that time. Lazy-loaded content may require site-specific behavior; the documented material does not provide a universal PhantomJS solution.

The file has the wrong format or dimensions
For raster output, check the render filename extension and whether the chosen format is supported by the Qt build. For PDF, check paperSize for page format, dimensions, orientation and margins.
The page does not load successfully
Check the page.open status before rendering. The example exits with an error when the status is not successful; a screenshot produced without a successful load will not diagnose a crop correctly.

PhantomJS’s official homepage says development is “suspended until further notice” and identifies QtWebKit as its backend: PhantomJS. Treat this as legacy API troubleshooting rather than a claim of current browser compatibility or support. Without the PhantomJS version, script, target page and resulting image, the exact cause cannot be confirmed; clipRect is the strongest first setting to inspect, not a guaranteed diagnosis.

Does page.render automatically capture the full document?
The documented API explains rendering and clipping, but does not establish a universal full-page procedure for every site or lazy-loaded page. Check the result and the page’s loading behavior.
Will setting a larger viewport always fix a cropped screenshot?
No. The viewport affects layout; a fixed page.clipRect can still limit the captured region.
