That is a ceiling, not a promise to reimburse every bill: the reimbursement percentage and excess on your Certificate of Insurance, sublimits, waiting periods and exclusions determine what you may receive. Its dental-illness benefit is capped at $500 a year and has a 180-day wait, so it is not general dental-care cover.
What PetsOnMe Deluxe covers
PetsOnMe lists Deluxe as its top plan for cats and dogs. It covers eligible accidents and illnesses, subject to the policy terms and the details in an individual Certificate of Insurance. The insurer’s plan comparison lists a $20,000 annual benefit limit and a $3,800 annual sublimit for hereditary conditions. Hereditary-condition cover begins only after the pet’s second birthday and the relevant waiting period.

Those figures are policy limits, not a forecast of what a pet owner will receive. The applicable reimbursement percentage is the one shown on the Certificate of Insurance, and benefits remain subject to limits, waiting periods, conditions and exclusions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS, V3 2023).
Dental cover is narrow
Deluxe lists up to $500 per year for eligible dental illness, after a 180-day waiting period. PetsOnMe says routine dental wellness, including teeth cleaning, is not covered. The PDS requires documentation showing annual dental checks and excludes elective checks and cleaning, orthodontics, crowns, root canals, cosmetic or corrective treatment, and odontoclastic resorptive lesions. CHOICE also identifies covered dental conditions and additional exclusions in its Deluxe Plan review. Check the current policy wording and certificate for a particular procedure rather than assuming it qualifies.

Waiting periods and switching from another insurer
PetsOnMe defines a waiting period as the time from the policy start or inception date that must pass before cover begins. Its FAQ lists these periods:
| Event or benefit | Waiting period |
|---|---|
| Accidents | 0 days |
| Illness, poisoning, intervertebral disc disease, and foreign-object ingestion | 21 days |
| Third-party liability, hereditary conditions, cruciate or patella luxation, and dental illness | 180 days |
PetsOnMe says waiting periods may be waived if the pet had at least 12 months of uninterrupted cover with another insurer. Confirm eligibility and the waiver in writing before relying on it; do not assume it applies automatically to every benefit or condition. The current PetsOnMe insurance FAQ explains the insurer’s waiting-period terms.

Limits and exclusions that can affect a claim
Reimbursement and consultation sublimits
Your certificate states the reimbursement percentage and excess. CHOICE reports consultation sublimits of $80 for regular vet consultations and $200 for specialist consultations or house calls. These are separate constraints to check alongside the annual limit; verify them against the current certificate and PDS because third-party summaries may not reflect later revisions.
Condition-specific restrictions
CHOICE flags brachycephalic airway obstruction syndrome and behavioural conditions among exclusions or restrictions, and reports a limit of one foreign-object ingestion incident per year. It also notes preventative-treatment requirements for tick-paralysis claims. Treat these as issues to verify against the current policy documents, particularly if they relate to your pet’s breed, health history or likely risks.

Because the published sources differ on the upper age, check current eligibility for your pet’s species, age and breed directly with PetsOnMe before applying.

The available plan information does not establish whether Deluxe is good value for any particular owner: premiums depend on the pet and quote details. Compare a quote with alternatives configured for the same pet and location, matching the excess and reimbursement percentage as closely as possible. Then check these terms against your pet’s needs:
