The official Australian Cat Insurance page lists an annual veterinary-fee benefit limit of up to $10,000, subject to the Certificate of Insurance. This is a maximum, not a guaranteed payment or a promise that every treatment will qualify.

The listed reimbursement rate decreases with age. Petcover and CHOICE list the following rates and veterinary-fee excess choices; they are plan terms, not a prediction of what a particular claim will pay.

These are the age bands as presented on the Petcover Australia page and in CHOICE’s public plan summary. The published summary does not explain boundary handling for a cat exactly at an age threshold; confirm the applicable rate in your certificate or with the insurer.
The reimbursement percentage is only one part of a claim calculation. The excess, eligible-cost rules, benefit limits and your certificate also matter. The public sources do not provide enough detail to calculate a reliable example payout for a specific invoice.

What are the waiting periods and sublimits?
Petcover lists no waiting period for injury and a 30-day waiting period for illness; CHOICE confirms those two waiting periods. The official product page also lists longer condition-specific waits and a consultation-fee cap.

- Illness: 30 days.
- Brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome: 365 days.
- Cruciate ligament benefit: six months.
- Consultation fees: capped at up to $400.

Who can get new cover, and can cover continue?
Petcover lists first-time cover for cats from 8 weeks of age until their eighth birthday. It also says ongoing claims for an illness or injury can continue throughout the cat’s life if cover is not interrupted. That continuity condition matters: the public summary does not establish that a lapsed or interrupted policy can be restarted on the same terms.
What about pre-existing conditions and renewals?
CHOICE lists pre-existing conditions as not covered. Its public summary does not provide the full definitions or exceptions, so use the Australian policy wording and your certificate to determine how a particular condition or history is treated.
