Persona 4 Revival is an upcoming remake of Persona 4 Golden, but its updated combat and other changes mean newcomers should not assume every older guide will apply unchanged. The main release is scheduled for February 18, 2027; the Nintendo Switch 2 version is listed for May 20, 2027. Before choosing a platform or planning how to play, here is what has been officially confirmed—and what remains unverified before launch.
What kind of game is Persona 4 Revival?
SEGA describes Persona 4 Revival as a remake of Persona 4 Golden, with enhanced graphics, UI, combat and cutscenes, plus quality-of-life features and added content. That does not establish that every mechanic or piece of content from Golden will carry over unchanged. The official site frames the story as a journey of self-discovery built around the mystery of the Midnight Channel. SEGA’s June 8, 2026 announcement calls it an entry for new and returning players; that is the publisher’s description, not an independent assessment.

When does it release, and where can you play?
The main release is scheduled for February 18, 2027. The Nintendo Switch 2 version is listed for May 20, 2027, so it is not on the same launch date as the other announced routes. SEGA lists Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, PlayStation 5, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2. Physical copies are listed only for PS5 and Switch 2; the other listed routes should be treated as digital access, not physical editions. Which platform or edition should a beginner choose?
Start with the platform you already use and the release date that suits you. If you want a physical copy, the announced choices are PS5 or Switch 2, with Switch 2 scheduled later. If you are comparing editions, check the listing for your own market: SEGA’s June announcement describes Japanese standard, digital deluxe, digital premium and physical limited-box editions, while regional product pages can differ in price and contents. Extras may include costumes, additional Personas, music or collector items, but no special edition is established as necessary to enjoy the story.

In practical terms, expect to balance ordinary schedule choices and relationships with story progression; there is not yet a verified optimal calendar plan to follow.
What beginner-friendly features are confirmed?
The official PlayStation description says you can review controls at any time, revisit gameplay tutorial information, pause during gameplay or cinematics when playing offline, and create manual saves. Use those tools to refresh yourself when needed and save deliberately. Exact menu labels and platform behavior should be checked in the released game.

What is known about combat—and what is not?
Pre-release footage reporting describes turn-based battles and mentions a guard ability, a “Send Flying” move used against an enemy with a status ailment, and Baton Pass. These are reported observations, not a complete or official combat manual. The official sources cited here do not establish exact triggers, effects, controls or balance, so treat older Persona 4 Golden battle advice—and specific claims about these reported moves—as provisional until the final game is available.
