If Persona 4 Golden is slowing down on your PC, start by lowering Rendering Scale, then reduce Shadow Quality. If you still need headroom, switch off anti-aliasing and lower or disable anisotropic filtering. Test the scenes that give you trouble, then raise settings one at a time to find the best balance for your hardware. This is a practical starting sequence, not a tested preset or an FPS guarantee.
Best starting settings for smoother play
Keep your display resolution at its normal setting and begin at 100% Rendering Scale if the game already runs smoothly. When performance drops, work through the settings below in order, changing one at a time so you can tell what helped.

- Lower Rendering Scale. Try a small step below 100%. This reduces the resolution the game renders internally, which can help a struggling system but makes the picture softer. The scale is adjustable in 25% increments.
- Reduce Shadow Quality. Change it from High to Medium or Low and check the same problem area again.
- Turn Anti-Aliasing off if needed. This may make edges look more jagged, in exchange for less graphics work.
- Set Anisotropic Filtering to Low or Off if needed. This can reduce texture clarity, particularly on surfaces viewed at an angle.
- Recover image quality carefully. Once performance is acceptable, raise one option at a time and retest. Stop when the slowdown returns.
This ordering is a reasoned way to use the available controls, not a controlled comparison of their performance impact. Results vary with the PC and the scenes being played. What each graphics setting changes

In that launch-era test, it reported more than 60 fps at 5120×2880 with 200% native rendering scale on an Intel Core i7-6700K and NVIDIA GTX 980. Display mode, resolution, and V-Sync
The game provides Windowed, Fullscreen, and Borderless display modes, a resolution selector, and a V-Sync toggle. Choose a display mode for compatibility and personal preference; none is established as universally faster. Use the resolution your display and PC can handle, and adjust Rendering Scale separately if you need to reduce internal rendering work.
V-Sync is mainly a choice between avoiding screen tearing and how frames are presented. PC Gamer observed tearing on a low-end setup when V-Sync was disabled. If you see tearing, try turning V-Sync on; if you prefer it off, judge the result on your own display. Neither setting is a guaranteed performance fix.

Steam advertises variable frame rates and Full HD support, but that does not establish that every computer can sustain a particular frame rate at a particular resolution: Persona 4 Golden on Steam.
Check whether your PC meets the published requirements
Steam lists the following minimum and recommended specifications. These are store-published requirements, not promises of a specific frame rate or graphics setting.

The Steam listing also includes a Steam Client policy note: support for Windows 10 and later began January 1, 2024. That is a Steam Client policy, not a game-performance specification.
Use a 64-bit Windows installation
The current Steam application is 64-bit. SEGA’s support notice, updated January 6, 2023, said its Steam update scheduled for January 19, 2023 would end support for the 32-bit application and require a 64-bit Windows OS. SEGA also said existing save data was expected to be unaffected. Its notice states: “Once the game application is updated, 32-bit versions of Persona 4 Golden will no longer be playable.” See SEGA Support’s update notice.

If only cinematics stutter
If gameplay is smooth but cinematics stutter, do not assume the graphics-settings sequence will fix it. The options above address rendering quality and workload; a current, universally applicable cutscene fix is not established here. Check current game-specific support for that separate symptom.
