PeepSo adds community features to WordPress, including member profiles, activity streams, groups, pages and messaging. A private group or members-only post is not the same as a private website: decide which parts should be restricted, configure each access layer, then test it with accounts that have different permissions.

Choose what “private” means for your community

Before configuring PeepSo, decide what visitors and members should be able to see. These are distinct access goals, not interchangeable privacy settings:

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

  • Members-only posts: limit the visibility of individual community posts. PeepSo’s Android app listing describes choices including Public, Members Only, Friends and Only Me; those are post-visibility options, not a guarantee that WordPress pages or media are hidden. PeepSo’s app listing showed an update date of August 27, 2026.
  • Private or secret groups: keep group posts visible only to group members, according to PeepSo’s 4.0 release announcement. That announcement is historical, not a current setup guide.
  • Controlled registration: decide whether people may sign up freely, need administrator approval, or must qualify another way. A historical PeepSo 1.9.1 announcement refers to closed groups that require users to be accepted, but it does not establish the current controls or their labels.
  • A fully restricted website: prevent logged-out visitors from viewing the pages and other site content you intend to protect. The cited PeepSo sources do not establish the current procedure for making an entire WordPress site private.

Write down which pages, posts, groups and other resources belong behind each boundary. This prevents a members-only feed from being mistaken for a site-wide access rule.

Build the WordPress community foundation

PeepSo is a WordPress social-networking plugin. Its feature description includes profiles, activity streams, groups, pages and messaging. See PeepSo’s demo for the vendor’s description of those community features.

Plan the site around the community you want to run: identify the spaces members will use, who can join them, and which content must remain available to the public. The sources cited here do not confirm current WordPress or PeepSo version requirements, hosting specifications, or exact installation and settings-menu labels, so check current product documentation for those details rather than relying on a guessed click path.

Set privacy at each relevant layer

Think of privacy as a set of separate controls. A restriction applied to one layer should not be assumed to protect another.

  • Posts: select a suitable visibility option for each kind of community post. The options in the app listing describe post visibility; they do not establish the visibility of every WordPress page or uploaded file.
  • Groups: use private or secret groups when participation and group posts should be limited to members. PeepSo’s release announcement says posts in those groups are visible only to group members; confirm current behavior and settings in current documentation.
  • Registration and membership: decide who may create an account, whether admission requires approval, and whether any group requires an additional membership level.
  • Pages and the whole site: verify access independently. The available sources do not confirm the current steps for blocking all logged-out visitors, so do not treat post or group privacy as proof that the entire site is restricted.

Use membership levels for selected private groups, if needed

If access should depend on a paid or tiered membership, PeepSo’s Paid Memberships Pro integration description says the Paid Memberships Pro plugin is required. It describes requiring a membership level for selected private groups and associating groups with membership levels.

This provides a possible design for gating particular groups; it is not evidence that every page on the site becomes private. The cited description also does not establish current compatibility, pricing or availability. Verify those points against current product documentation before choosing this setup.

Test permissions before inviting members

Check the actual site with accounts representing the access states you plan to support. Use a logged-out browser as well as signed-in accounts, and check the resources that matter to your community.

  1. Administrator: confirm you can manage the community and its access settings.
  2. Regular member: check the posts, groups and pages that an ordinary member should be able to use.
  3. Member without a required level: if a group is membership-gated, verify that an account without the required level cannot enter it.
  4. Logged-out visitor: inspect the site’s home page, relevant pages, feeds, groups, search results and media. Confirm which items remain public and which are blocked.

These are operational checks based on the separate post, group and membership controls described above; they are not a vendor-documented test procedure. If a resource remains accessible when it should not, revisit the control responsible for that resource and test again before opening the community.
