For a one-time transfer into a compatible iPhone app, use Apple Devices for Windows over USB/USB-C or Wi-Fi. For files you want available on both devices, use iCloud Drive. These are the best-documented routes; current evidence does not support a reliable ranking of seven apps, so this guide compares Apple’s built-in options with two third-party candidates without inventing a top-seven list.
How do I transfer files from a PC to an iPhone?
Choose the route based on where the file should end up. Apple Devices copies files into an iPhone app that supports Apple File Sharing. iCloud Drive syncs files through your Apple Account so they can be accessed from both devices. LocalSend or KDE Connect may suit nearby-device sharing, but their official pages establish less about the details of a particular Windows-to-iPhone transfer.

| Option | Connection and workflow | Where the file appears | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Devices for Windows | USB/USB-C or Wi-Fi | Inside the selected app that supports File Sharing | A deliberate copy into a compatible iPhone app |
| iCloud Drive | Cloud sync using the same Apple Account | iPhone Files app and iCloud Drive on Windows or iCloud.com | Keeping files available across both devices |
| LocalSend | Nearby-device sharing, per its official site | Not established by the cited page | A third-party option to investigate for a nearby transfer |
| KDE Connect | Windows and iOS versions are listed on its official download page | Not established by the cited page | A third-party option, after checking iOS-specific limitations |
How does Apple Devices transfer files?
Apple’s support guide describes File Sharing this way: “You can copy files between your computer and apps on your iPhone or iPad using File Sharing.” The transfer is app-scoped: a file copied this way belongs to the selected app and is not generally available to other iPhone apps or locations.
- Install the current Apple Devices app on a PC running Windows 10 or later. The iPhone should have a current version of iOS.
- Connect the iPhone to the PC with a USB or USB-C data cable, or use Wi-Fi as described in Apple’s guide. Connector compatibility depends on the PC and iPhone; an existing compatible data cable may be sufficient.
- Open Apple Devices, select the iPhone, and choose Files.
- Select an app that supports File Sharing, then drag files from the PC into that app’s file list.
- Eject the iPhone in Apple Devices before disconnecting it.
If Apple Devices does not show a Files section, Apple says the iPhone has no apps that support File Sharing. This method will not work for a file that you need to open from an app without File Sharing support.

When is iCloud Drive the better choice?
Use iCloud Drive when you want a file to remain accessible on both devices rather than make a single app-specific copy. Enable iCloud Drive with the same Apple Account on the iPhone and Windows PC. On the iPhone, find the files in the Files app. On Windows, use iCloud for Windows and File Explorer, or access iCloud.com.

Apple’s iCloud for Windows guide says files smaller than 1 MB are downloaded automatically; other files may need to be downloaded before they can be opened locally. This workflow depends on cloud synchronization, so it is different from copying a file directly over a cable.

What are the third-party PC-to-iPhone transfer app options?
LocalSend
LocalSend’s official site describes the app as a way to share files with nearby devices. That supports considering it as a nearby-sharing candidate, but the cited page does not establish a specific transfer speed, file-size limit, encryption claim, discovery behavior, or exact Windows-and-iPhone compatibility details. Check the current official app documentation before relying on any of those particulars.

KDE Connect
KDE Connect’s official download page lists Windows and iOS builds. It also points readers to an iOS README for data-disclosure information, known limitations, and bug reporting. The existence of both builds does not by itself establish feature parity or confirm that a particular file-transfer workflow will meet your needs; review the iOS-specific details before choosing it.

Apple documents using the iPhone Files app with a storage device, a file server, or a cloud service. This can be useful if you would rather not install a dedicated PC transfer app, but the precise steps depend on the device or service. Confirm that an external drive works with the iPhone’s connector and supported format before buying or copying files to it.

Does Phone Link transfer files from a PC to an iPhone?
Microsoft’s documented Phone Link file-sharing requirements specify Android devices and Android versions. That documentation does not establish Phone Link as a PC-to-iPhone file-transfer method. Do not choose it for this task on the assumption that Android file-sharing support also applies to iPhone.

Which route should you choose?
- Pick Apple Devices when you want to copy a file into a compatible iPhone app and can use Apple File Sharing.
- Pick iCloud Drive when the file should remain available through Files on the iPhone and iCloud on Windows.
- Consider LocalSend or KDE Connect if you want to try third-party nearby sharing, but verify current iOS support and limitations in the apps’ official documentation.
- Use Files with storage or a server when your existing setup supports that route and you have checked device compatibility.
The available official documentation supports these choices, not a defensible seven-app ranking with comparable feature, privacy, speed, and availability evidence.
