The PAW3950 is reported to raise the headline ceilings over the PAW3395: 30,000 vs. 26,000 DPI, 750 vs. 650 inches per second (IPS), and 70 vs. 50 g acceleration. It also reportedly supports a lower 0.7 mm lift-off option. Those figures do not automatically make a PAW3950 mouse more accurate or better for everyday gaming; the mouse’s implementation and fit matter more to most buyers.
PAW3950 vs. PAW3395: specification comparison
| Specification | PAW3395 | PAW3950 | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maximum resolution | Up to 26,000 CPI, according to PixArt’s product information. | 30,000 DPI, reported by GamesRadar+ (2025); not independently confirmed here against an official PixArt PAW3950 datasheet. | The higher ceiling matters mainly if you intentionally use very high sensitivity. CPI and DPI are often used interchangeably in mouse listings. |
| Maximum tracking speed | 650 IPS, according to PixArt’s product information. | 750 IPS, reported by GamesRadar+ (2025); not independently confirmed here against an official PixArt PAW3950 datasheet. | A higher maximum is more relevant to unusually fast swipes. It does not by itself demonstrate better everyday tracking. |
| Maximum acceleration | 50 g, according to PixArt’s product information. | 70 g, reported by GamesRadar+ (2025) and also listed by Akko; not independently confirmed here against an official PixArt PAW3950 datasheet. | This is a sensor specification ceiling, not a prediction of a typical player’s performance or benefit. |
| Lift-off distance options | PixArt lists selectable 1 mm or 2 mm lift detection. | GamesRadar+ reports a 0.7 mm minimum, alongside 1 mm and 2 mm options. | A lower setting can help players who frequently lift and reposition their mouse. The mouse’s firmware and implementation determine which settings are actually available. |
How much difference will you notice?
DPI/CPI: more range, not automatically more accuracy
The reported PAW3950 maximum is higher, but a larger maximum resolution does not inherently improve accuracy, aim, or skill. GamesRadar+ notes that few players are likely to use or notice the top-end maxima. For ordinary play, the useful question is whether your preferred sensitivity is supported—not whether the sensor can reach a number you will not use.

IPS and acceleration: ceilings, not a complete tracking verdict
The PAW3950 figures reported for tracking speed and acceleration are higher, but these maximums alone do not establish a visible advantage during normal mouse movement. They describe claimed sensor limits, not a guarantee that every mouse built around that sensor will track identically.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsLift-off distance may be the practical distinction
If you often pick up your mouse to reset its position, a genuinely available 0.7 mm lift-off setting could be more relevant than the higher DPI, IPS, or acceleration figures. Check the exact mouse’s software and firmware options: a sensor-level comparison does not guarantee that a manufacturer exposes every setting.

PAW3395 evidence and PAW3950 uncertainty
PixArt’s product information describes the PAW3395 as a high-end, low-power optical gaming-mouse chip and lists 26,000 CPI, 650 IPS, 50 g acceleration, and 1 mm or 2 mm lift detection. It also describes high-performance, low-power, corded-gaming, and office modes. The final behavior still depends on how a mouse maker implements the sensor.
The PAW3950 headline values in the comparison above come from GamesRadar+ and Akko. PixArt’s official comparison page surfaced PAW3395 specifications but did not list PAW3950, so the PAW3950 numbers should be treated as reported comparisons rather than independently verified manufacturer specifications. They are sensor specifications, not results from a user study.

What to compare when choosing a mouse
Do not choose between two complete mice on the sensor name alone. Check the exact model listing and compare the characteristics that determine whether the mouse suits your hand, play style, and setup:
Recommended Free Tools
- Shape and weight: These affect comfort and handling more directly than an unused sensor maximum.
- Firmware and sensor options: Confirm available lift-off settings and other controls in the exact model’s software.
- Connection and polling implementation: A sensor name alone does not establish how a specific mouse handles its connection or polling.
- Wireless battery behavior: Check model-specific information rather than assuming all PAW3950 or PAW3395 mice behave alike.
- Price and warranty: Compare the complete devices, not a sensor-generation premium in isolation.
There is no universal winner without specific mouse models to compare. Verify the sensor on the live product listing, then judge the whole mouse against your priorities.
