Work through those checks in that order before reinstalling anything.
Start with the symptom, not a reinstall
Identify exactly what is failing. A server that is absent from the browser has a different first check from a server that is listed but rejects connections. Likewise, a player who cannot join after an update may have a version mismatch even when everyone else can connect.

- Listed, but connections fail: inspect the same port and firewall path; listing alone does not prove that gameplay traffic can pass.
- Only some players fail to join: compare the server patch with every client, especially after an update.
- A custom map starts as Panjura: verify the map mod ID and the exact internal map name in the two INI files.
- Creatures or other mods are absent: verify each Mod ID, then check whether the mod was updated, removed, or limited to certain platforms.
Keep a note of which players are affected, their platforms, the server build, and the time the problem started. That information distinguishes a local client problem from a server-wide configuration problem.
Hosting requirements to verify first
Self-hosting prerequisites
Alderon’s Community Servers FAQ, dated May 12, 2025, says that any player who owns a full copy of Path of Titans can host a Community Server. Self-hosting requires a dedicated Windows or Linux machine, not merely a game client running on a computer that is occasionally used for play.

The current self-hosting route also requires Alderon’s dedicated-server software, port forwarding, and additional network and configuration work. Alderon’s May 2026 development blog describes that process as complex for the average player. NAT punch-through is described as work in progress, so do not assume it is available as a replacement for forwarding ports today.
Game-server-provider hosting
A game-server provider handles the physical or virtual machine and usually exposes a control panel for starting the server and editing settings. You still need to confirm that the provider has assigned the correct ports, that the server is running the intended build, and that its file editor is writing the same INI files described below. Provider hosting removes some network work; it does not eliminate version, mod, map, or platform compatibility checks.

Record the hosting details
- Write down whether the server is self-hosted or provider-hosted.
- Record the machine’s operating system and the dedicated-server software version.
- List the configured game and query ports exactly as shown by the server software or provider. No universal port number should be assumed from another setup.
- Note the location of
Game.ini,GameUserSettings.ini, and the server log. - Confirm that the person making changes can stop and restart the server cleanly.
When the server is missing or nobody can connect
1. Confirm the server is actually running
Check the host process or provider console for a successful startup rather than relying on a saved configuration. A process that exits during startup cannot publish a listing. Read the latest log for an obvious configuration or file error before changing multiple settings.
2. Check every configured port
The Hosting Wiki identifies incorrect or closed ports as a primary cause of a missing listing and failed connections. Verify the port values in the server configuration, then check both sides of the path:
- Confirm the dedicated server is listening on the configured ports on the host machine.
- Confirm the operating-system firewall allows the dedicated-server executable or the required inbound traffic.
- Confirm the router or other network edge forwards the same ports to the host machine’s current local address.
- Check that the forwarding rule still points to the right machine; DHCP can change a host’s local address.
- If a provider is used, compare the provider-assigned ports with the values in the server configuration and panel.
Do not substitute a port number copied from a different server guide. The relevant value is the one assigned in your own configuration or hosting panel.

3. Inspect the host firewall
A listing can appear while gameplay traffic is blocked. Temporarily review the firewall’s blocked-connection events and create a narrowly scoped allow rule for the dedicated server and its configured ports. Avoid disabling the firewall as a permanent fix. After changing a rule, restart the server and test from a player who is outside the host’s local network.

4. Test from outside the host network
A local test can succeed because of router loopback behavior even when the public path is broken. Have a friend on another connection try the server, or test through a separate internet connection. If outside players fail while local players succeed, focus on forwarding, edge firewall rules, and the host’s public addressing rather than the game’s mod settings.
5. Change one layer at a time
After each port or firewall change, restart the server and record the result. Changing ports, mods, and map settings simultaneously makes the next failure impossible to attribute.
When some players can join and others cannot
Check update parity before networking
The server and every client must run the same patch. The Hosting Wiki specifically identifies a stale server or stale client as a cause of selective join failures after an update. Ask an affected player and a working player to report the exact game version shown by their clients, then compare those values with the dedicated-server build.
- Stop accepting new troubleshooting tests while an update is still being installed.
- Update the dedicated server software to the current patch.
- Have every player fully update Path of Titans, not just restart the game.
- Restart the dedicated server after the update finishes.
- Retest with one previously successful player and one previously blocked player.
If everyone is on the same patch and only one person still fails, collect that player’s platform, connection type, exact error, and client log if available. Do not immediately alter server ports when the failure is isolated to one updated client.

Distinguish version errors from platform limits
A player can be on the correct patch and still be unable to load a particular mod. Platform support is declared by the mod, not guaranteed by the server. Compare the affected player’s platform with the mod’s supported platforms before treating the issue as a network outage.
When a modded map loads as Panjura
A custom map needs two separate settings: the map mod must be enabled, and the session must be told to load that map. Use the exact internal map name supplied by the mod; a display name, shortened name, or different capitalization may not work.
Safe configuration procedure
- Stop the server completely. Do not edit either INI file while the server is running.
- Open
GameUserSettings.iniand locate the[PathOfTitans.Mods]section. - Add the map’s exact Mod ID under that section, preserving the syntax used by the existing entries.
- Open
Game.iniand locate or create the[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]section. - Add
ServerMap=ExactInternalMapName, replacing the value with the mod’s exact internal map name. - Save both files, confirm that the editor did not append an extra file extension, and restart the server.
- Check the startup log for the requested map and test with a client that has downloaded the same map mod.

ServerMap=ExactInternalMapNameThe snippet shows the locations and key names, not a real Mod ID or map name. Copy the values from the mod’s own entry in the in-game Mod Browser or its documentation. If ServerMap is omitted, misspelled, or does not exactly match the internal name, the server can fall back to Panjura even though the map download is present.
If the custom map still does not load
- Confirm the map Mod ID contains the correct characters and no accidental spaces.
- Verify that the map mod finished downloading on the server before startup completed.
- Check that
ServerMapis inGame.ini, notGameUserSettings.ini. - Remove duplicate or conflicting map entries, then restart from a stopped state.
- Ask a player on the target platform to test; a map can be correctly configured yet too demanding for some mobile devices.
When creatures or other mods are missing
Verify IDs in the Mod Browser
Open Path of Titans’ in-game Mod Browser and verify each mod’s exact Mod ID. Add every required ID under [PathOfTitans.Mods] in GameUserSettings.ini. Treat the ID as case- and character-sensitive data: check carefully for the number zero (0) versus the letter capital O (O).
Account for update and removal events
A game update can require the mod author to publish an updated build. A mod may also have been removed. In either case, a previously valid ID can remain in the file while the content is unavailable. Check the mod’s current status in the Mod Browser and remove obsolete entries only after confirming that no map or gameplay rule depends on them.

Validate the complete dependency set
Some custom maps or creatures rely on additional mods. Compare the server’s list with the set required by the map or community configuration. A missing dependency can make one feature disappear while the rest of the server appears normal. Add dependencies one at a time, restart, and record which change restores the content.
Use a clean restart after edits
- Stop the server.
- Back up
GameUserSettings.inibefore editing. - Correct the Mod ID list.
- Save the file and start the server again.
- Wait for mod downloads or validation to finish before joining.
Do not repeatedly edit the file while the server is writing it. That can overwrite a correct change or leave a malformed section.
When only certain platforms can join
Alderon’s mod guidance warns that not all mods support all platforms. Map mods can be especially demanding for mobile devices. Therefore, a server may be correctly configured, listed, and reachable while remaining incompatible with one player’s platform.
Platform compatibility checklist
- Record the affected player’s platform and operating-system version.
- Check the mod’s supported-platform information in the Mod Browser or the mod author’s current listing.
- Test the server with the mod disabled only if doing so is acceptable for the community; this isolates platform compatibility from networking.
- For a custom map, test a supported desktop platform and an affected mobile platform separately.
- Do not promise mobile compatibility based solely on the fact that the base game supports mobile devices.
If removing the mod restores access for the affected platform, the result points to mod compatibility or device limits rather than a port failure. Re-enable the mod only after confirming that the author supports the affected platform.

Alderon’s FAQ identifies two legitimate hosting routes: self-hosting and working with a game-server provider. The official material confirms the options but does not publish a universal price, performance ranking, uptime percentage, or latency comparison, so those values vary by provider, machine, location, and configuration.

Choose self-hosting when you can maintain a dedicated machine and network rules. Choose a provider when you want the infrastructure and port-forwarding burden handled, while accepting the provider’s panel limits and support process.
A disciplined configuration workflow
Back up before every change
Copy Game.ini and GameUserSettings.ini to a dated backup while the server is stopped. Keep the last known-good copies separate from the live directory. This gives you a direct rollback when a new Mod ID or map value prevents startup.
Apply the smallest possible change
Change one setting or one mod group, save, restart, and test. For a map problem, do not also change firewall rules. For a selective join problem, establish patch parity before editing INI files. Isolating variables is faster than rebuilding a server from scratch.
Check syntax and placement
- Use the exact section headers:
[PathOfTitans.Mods]for Mod IDs and[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]forServerMap. - Keep
ServerMapinGame.ini. - Keep Mod IDs in
GameUserSettings.ini. - Do not replace a real internal map name with the map’s marketing or browser title.
- Check for duplicated sections, accidental smart quotes, and an extra
.txtextension.
Restart in a repeatable order
- Stop the server and wait for the process to exit.
- Save and verify the files.
- Start the dedicated server.
- Wait for initialization and mod downloads to finish.
- Test listing, then a connection, then the affected map or creature.
What to send support when troubleshooting stalls
Preserve the relevant configuration and log files before making more edits. The Hosting Wiki specifically asks operators investigating server issues to provide Game.ini and PathOfTitans.log.
Prepare a useful report
- Describe the symptom precisely: absent listing, failed connection, selective join failure, Panjura fallback, or missing mod.
- State whether the server is self-hosted or provider-hosted and whether it runs on Windows or Linux.
- Include the server and client patch versions, with the date and time of the failed test.
- List affected and unaffected platforms.
- Attach the relevant
Game.iniandPathOfTitans.log, redacting passwords, private keys, and unrelated personal data. - Explain which port and firewall checks have already been completed.
- For mod problems, include the exact Mod IDs and the exact
ServerMapvalue.
Keep the evidence consistent
Capture the files from the same failed startup that produced the symptom. A log from before an update and an INI file from after the update can send support toward the wrong cause.

Final recovery checklist
- Infrastructure: dedicated machine or provider environment is running; configured ports are open at the host and network edge; the host firewall allows the server.
- Versions: server and every client are on the same patch.
- Map: the map Mod ID is under
[PathOfTitans.Mods]inGameUserSettings.ini, and the exact internal map name is assigned toServerMapinGame.ini. - Mods: every required ID is present and correctly typed; the mod is still available and updated for the current game version.
- Platforms: the affected player’s platform is supported by every required mod, especially a custom map.
- Evidence: backups,
Game.ini, andPathOfTitans.logare ready if escalation is needed.
Following this order prevents a common mistake: trying to repair a firewall problem with mod edits, or trying to solve a platform limitation by changing ports. Once the infrastructure, patch, configuration, and platform checks all pass, the remaining evidence in the startup log is the best guide to the next action.
