Turn on the TV and point the remote toward its remote sensor. Samsung says the sensor is typically near the lower right or bottom center, but its location varies by TV.

Wait for the TV to show that pairing is complete. Test the connection by pressing Home or adjusting the volume.

During initial setup, Samsung says the Smart Remote normally connects automatically. You may need to pair it manually after moving it to another Samsung TV; it is designed to work with one device at a time. Samsung Australia’s pairing instructions note that button images and functions can vary by model and country.
If pairing does not work
Check power and connection status
Replace or recharge the remote’s batteries as appropriate, then try the pairing steps again. Samsung Canada says that two LED blinks when a button is pressed can indicate that the Bluetooth connection is lost. Basic volume or channel controls may still work through infrared, while Smart features such as Voice may not work until Bluetooth is reconnected. Restart or reset the remote only if the model supports it
For the Smart Remote covered by Samsung Australia’s instructions, restart it by holding Return + Enter for at least ten seconds. To reset and pair again, hold Return + Voice for at least three seconds, then hold Return + Play/Pause for at least three seconds. These are model-specific steps, not universal instructions; consult the TV’s own support page or manual before trying a different procedure. Samsung Australia

If the TV remains unresponsive, turn it off and power-cycle it, then try pairing again. Samsung’s regional support instructions differ on recovery details, so follow the guidance for your exact model rather than assuming one procedure applies to every set.

Charge a SolarCell remote
If yours is a rechargeable SolarCell remote, depleted power may prevent pairing. Samsung Canada says these remotes can be charged by exposing the solar cell to light or by USB-C. For supported Canadian TVs, the guide also explains how to check battery level. Samsung Canada’s SolarCell remote guide

The Return and Play/Pause combination applies to many Bluetooth Smart Remotes, not every Samsung remote. A classic infrared Smart Touch Control may have a separate pairing button inside the battery compartment. Samsung’s regional instructions do not always specify the same hold time: Australia’s general instructions say at least three seconds, while a 2025 Samsung Germany Solar Smart Remote video example uses at least five seconds.
